      Michaelia0816:
I think the problem is because of the word \" cry\"! The word \" disturbed\" shows that he should answer in past tense!

Hi Michaelia0816, thank you for your reply. I think in this case the word cry is used in the possessive form (the baby's cry (ies)), not as a verb. i tend to think the reference is used as in who's perspective, but dont understand it enough to explain to DS.

          (2),
          Because:

May- as your choice ( want to pay or dun wan to pay)
          Can- Same as May
          Might- Past tense of May
          Will- Must

All May, Can and Might is the same meaning except for Will, so all out and left the answer (2)!!!

Cover "John and", that will give you the reason why "me" is used instead of "I".

                      Ans :

                      (1) rose. It should be in the past tense, as it was \"this morning\".

                      (2) knew. It should be in the past tense, as \"wouldn't (would not)\".

                        bluesclue:
Hi I need an explanation of the following remarks in my DS 's comprehension:

                        Q. What disturbed Ali from his sleep?

DS's Ans: Ali was disturbed by the cry of a baby.

Reference Ans: A crying baby disturbed Ali from his sleep.

DS 's answer was marked as half correct; and the comments from his teacher is that his answer had the wrong point of reference. Could you please help me understand what is wrong with DS's answer?

                        tia
Hi, I think it was marked half correct because in the question, the point of reference is \"What\" and \"from\". But in your DS's answer, his point of reference became \"Ali\"
