Are you happy you have been heard by MOE....

      to differentiate citizens and non-citizens?

Wait. Was this really what ksp parents were clamouring for? How is it going to benefit Singaporean kids if their non-Sg classmates will now pay higher fees? Is there any promise that the higher fees collected will be used to bring in more teachers/teacher-training/extra coaching for exams etc.?

Actually, I wonder... How much MOE will get as an addition to these increase. I mean, is it really a significant number of students affected with these new fees? What's the percentage as I think more than half of FT and PR has no kid or at least the kid is not here in Singapore. CMIIW

      Cheers
Well, the ministries have the statistics to know how to do the sums. I do not think this new policy is made based solely on feedback. What is CMIIW? I only know CMI-cannot make it. šŸ˜„

        Cheers
is a political move, nothing to do with finance

just to fulfill the singaporeans come first promise and to placate the sweeping statements often seen about foreigners more equal than citizens

just want to be seen that foreigners are paying more

Actually today I read the newspaper article about this and I feel sad. I know of a close friend who is PR. The increase of $50 per child will be significant to her. And it is not that she and her husband does not want to convert to citizen.

And I am sure there are more of this kind of cases.

Just a lighter note on the difference I notice, I think the poly kids are treated more like young adults, not tied down by school uniforms and stricter rules in school whereas the A levels kids are managed more like kids, maybe that is why they are given bus fare privileges? šŸ‘… šŸ¦†
                  A level is secondary education.

Poly and Uni is tertiary education. If poly got subsidy, means Uni shd be entitled too.

The increased citizens were probably seen when the P1 priority changes...
Will gender ratio tilt towards 1 side as more PR girls becoming citizens..?

This is harder to predict because we cannot predict the gender of the boys and girls (citizens) born. If more boys are born, then more PR girls also no issue. Well...something they need to monitor.

Are you wondering if more non-citizens with girls will become citizens for schooling purpose because girls no need to serve NS?
