      I have seen not heard…...

Not NIE-trained, the how are they supposed to know how to teach? All presch teachers need the Childhood Education Diploma or higher to teach. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is this.

I took a cert in preschool teaching and had to do a 150 hour practicum after that. During my course, there were some preschool teachers who also attended the cert course. The principals of their kindergartens sent them there to receive formal training. Now preschool teachers have to get their diploma.

Hubby almost became a teacher. He would be an untrained teacher and have a mentor until it was time to attend formal training at NIE. At the same time, he will also get a taste of teaching life to see if he likes it.

Food for Thought... I don't agree with everything but I do agree that with meritocracy, elites believe they are ENTITLED to success whilst others are not... and fail on the attitude of stewardship... and empathy for others who don't succeed.

Again, I don't agree with everything but this is well-written...

:rotflmao: don't be too sure Liliac66. There's always a quiet before a storm. I have a funny feeling..... Because my crystal ball told me that the WWIII started somewhere else. Will eventually spread back here when the fighting dies down \"there\". Don't be too sad when that happens k? Being the sweet peaceful dear you are. I promise not to reveal my horns unless someone else draws First Blood, ok? :hugs: just take shelter, for it might be brutal! :nunchuk:

:rotflmao: Thanks for your warning! ok, I take cover first. :siam: Take care! Will be back next year. Hopefully things have died down by then. πŸ™

Having posted that, I better escape before another land mine is thrown on me. What I have mentioned is true as hubby went through the whole MOE interview process...but you know this thread can be scary.

Are all teachers NIE trained before they teach in schools? I have seen teachers who taught for one semester and then the school announced that they are leaving for NIE for professional training so they are not certified teachers yet ?

Teachers are not NIE trained when they start teaching in schools...they are untrained teachers until the principals decide whether they deserve that chance. Some of these untrained teachers may never get that NIE training. This was what I heard from a reliable source :censored:

:yikes: This is NEWS to me! All along I have the notion that only relief teachers are not NIE-trained.

Oops, thank goodness VK2010 is not here, or he'll scoff at this \"hearsay, hearsay again\" :rotflmao:[/quote]http://www.moe.gov.sg/careers/teach/career-info/training/
