Anyone enrolling your child for the upcoming 3rd National Kindergarten Chess Championships? My DS’s instructor encourage him to participate to gain some exposure. How do you prepare your child for the competition?

Hi I'm Kim Steven Yap, an International Chess Master and I worked for Asean Chess Academy, Singapore.

Please enroll your kids to chess training as it not only provides fun but also actually makes kids smarter. Studies shows that chess strengthens a child's ability to visualize, boosts his concentration, improves his memory and sharpens his analysis. It also teaches him to think more creatively.

Chess also improves the over-all academic performance of a child. It has been proven that kids who study and play chess do well in their Math and English subjects than those who don't.

If interested for your child's training please email anjela@aseanchess.com or yapkimsteven@yahoo.com or send me a message 91789863. For rates please call our office 6258 0100. Thank you.

          Hi,

I have heard that International chess boosts mathematical skills such as basic arithmetic and coordinate system, because they train the child to do clearer calculation in piece exchanges and familiarization of coordinates used in Chess. It also helps them to visualize geometrical problems and manage their time and mental stamina better which helps them to perform better in their exams! All these skills can be acquired with fun for the children.

I strongly recommend parents to take up these courses that are available at Intchess Asia pte. Ltd where my children have learnt from World Chess Federation Certified trainers.

chess-kidz at upper bukit timah has 3 day chess camps during school holidays, the time I went, the newcomers class was K1-P1.

Playing with children similar age is important for their interest and development. If someone would organise a weekly friendly chess meeting for pre-schoolers at a condo function room, I would bring my kids! 🙂
