      maykenth:
can anyone advice me.. hows life in CPS?

attitude of the teachers , staffs, environment? i end up in phase 2cs liao.. so dissapointed.. i living just walking distance fr Boon LAy Garden pri sch. CPS will be in morning session and BlGPS is afternoon for P1 . CPS is 3 bus stops away.

which one should i choose? my importance is the school environment. can anyone from CPS share wat it the academic standard like?

:snuggles: :hugs: Take heart, maykenth - don't be disappointed; looks forward to your registration for P2CS tomorrow and/or the day after 😄

I was balloted out in year 2008 for my DD1 P1 registration then. Yes, disappointed so we went on to register DD1 with CPS under P2CS 😄

I can only comment that my P4 DD1 and P1 DD2 are enjoying school very much - so much so that they \"grumble\" - why this week only study 3 days? (16th & 17th being PSLE Oral exam) so it is a non-schooling day 😄

My P4 DD1 is blessed to have very caring and dedicated teachers throughout this 4 years; thankful for that. She approaches her teachers if she has any doubts and now as she is in the upper primary, she spends more time in school for supplementary lessons, CCAs, NDP rehearsals etc... 😄

My P1 DD2 is the happy-go-lucky type :imcool: maybe can call her the \"simply bo-chap\" type. But I am glad that she loves school - enjoys the activities, the PAL programme etc.. :please:

Maybe, you can read up more at the school webpage:-
      http://www.corporationpri.moe.edu.sg/

Alternatively, you can visit both the BLGPS and CPS tomorrow and then have a feel how the school function system is 😄

        Hi all,

My son got balloted out of Frontier…now considering CPS and Pioneer.
Historically, Pioneer needs balloting even for phase 2CS while CPS don’t (well not too sure about last year).

We are staying within 1km of Pioneer and between 1km to 2km to CPS. Not too sure our chances if we opt for CPS…dun want to go through balloting…

        Any comments???

        Thx
        Leon

Went for the student care registration this morning. 40 places for P1 next year. Priority for those in subsidy, then other SC. Mr Ee, the supervisor said in the past, only 10-15 kids fr subsidy. But this year the income ceiling for subsidy has increased so more pple will qualify. Crossing my fingers that DD will get in, if not I’ll have to put her on sch bus to go to an external student care, which will be more tiring for her.

We also asked the sch general office abt the official acceptance letter. The admin person said all have been mailed out, but dunno why we havent received. Anyway, they checked our records are there, so they told us to just go for the orientation which is 17 Nov at 9am

            Hi,
Maybe you can monitor the situation tml and go for the registration on Wednesday?

Looking at the vacancies left for P2CS, Pioneer has 71 and CPS has 52 so difficult to make decision 😄

Tarztarz, Dora1 & Hazelmama, Welcome to CPS family!

Dora1, those with siblings currently in the student care will have priority too, guess before those in subsidy. Two weeks ago, my girl received the form for siblings to register by 2 August. The procedures work like PS registration different phases. Interesting. 🙂

                Hi snoopy

                Thanks for the welcome!
Yah, I saw the sign put up. I think it’s quite a fair system, although that means I get 2nd last priority, just before PR with no siblings. Cos I think the sch has additional subsidy for the in house student care, on top of gov subsidies. So those on the lowest income bracket dun have to pay anything. These kids will probably end up as latch key kids if there wasn’t any in-house student care.
How’s the student care? I read previously that you had concerns abt sleeping on the table. I dun like it too. Most prob DD will just skip her nap then.

Thank you for reply so much… i will be less worry .( a bit! )

                  need your advise::

wat about in terms of academic? is CPS will be too relax ? will there be enough "chalenging" homework , worksheets. and wat about in upper primary P5 and P6 will there be enough preparation for PSLE? enough drilling exercise?

Now my dd can read and write similar to P1 standard already.
she go to private kindergarten. they actually teach P1 maths already now ( I cant be bothered) as long she can cope and happy learning new things) and so far she can just passed the homework.

sorry so many questions… i dont have good memory in primary school. hates it . i hope my kids will be happy and study well there…

Today , i failed to reach to CPS. me and dd toook the wrong bus. .sotong mom…
( i stay boon lay drive) have to take 2 buses or 1 bus + walk 500km plus.

                    hi may kenth,

CPS has several programmes for the higher ability students. i think champion's dd1 and my ds1 have benefitted from them. i think my son is challenged sufficiently and i am happy so far.

regarding PSLE, I don't know yet as my son is not there yet. but i have faith in the school.

your dd seems smart, i am pretty sure smart kids will shine anywhere. 🙂 you are right about being happy... i too feel that the joy of learning is the most important. my kids love to go to school a lot. that's why i am so happy with this school. 🙂

i know what you are talking about regarding the bus stop. my son takes bus home too. i used to ferry him and when i first let him take the bus I was worried about the walk to the main road, as the bus stop right outside the school doesn't come to my house.

however, he assures me daily that the walk is not long, it is not hot and he has friends to walk with. he also assures me that they cross the road very carefully... so i have learnt to relax and i think the long walk may be good for him. i used to worry about him having to carry his heavy bag and walk so far too (500m though, not 500km :)), but he doesn't seem to be bothered at all. which is good training for NS in future, i think! hehe

so perhaps you try the walk, instead of 2 buses, because for your distance, taking 2 buses is not worth the transfer and waiting. hope this helps!

Thank you for prompt reply kabalevski and champion!! 🙂

which primary level is your DS? tat they are able to go home her own?? i cant wait till tat day.. so dont need parents send or take school bus tat goes round n round.. you really assure me tat CPS is a good choice.. hope we share the same view in future.

yup yup.. its 500m not 500km.. im so nervous of dd tomorrow education . if balotting again, think i no luck this year.. never win 4d or toto .not even once in a life time.

i will visit CPS tomorrow with my DD . if its her destiny then, she will register successfully.. or else we will go down to phase 3 enter Boon Lay Garden?? (if still got vacancy)

Yes, I also think that CPS is not accessible to public transport! I stay around lakeside MRT area. By car, its only 5min. But there's no direct bus, even to the main road at Jurong West Ave 2. I haven't figured out the fastest way to get there by bus, but to take 2 buses for a total of 4-5 bus stops, it may end up being 45min! :slapshead: Maybe this is also a reason for this school being not popular.

Maybe we should feedback to the school and ask the school to write to LTA to improve on accessibility by public transport.
