All About T-Score

Agree totally, experienced the same in my son's school. In fact the principal even mentioned that this year's results seem to have fewer pupils above 260 in many schools. Lets hope the COP comes down a couple of points in the top schools.Hi,
It comes across to me that 2008 PSLE results are more competitive. Student's scores are very close to each other. But this year the results are very widespread. meaning the smart ones are really smart, getting 270 and above. There are only a handful of people who gets 260-269 and majority are in the range of 250-255.
Do you see the same pattern in your kid's school ?
Anyone knows where can we get information on score breakdown ? I am keen to find out % of students who gets 270 and above, 260-269, 255-259 and etc.
cheers,
When will the official COP's be published so that parents can decide on appeal process ? Can any of the parents with older children help ... -
I'm like the top pupil in my school for 6 years, and I was, true indeed still the top. But with an aggregate of only 257 (@#$%!!!!). :stupid: I think you're right. And it's because of the maths. Those who are in the \"A\" and the \"A*\" standard all don't know the same questions, hence all of them dropping to A, or getting a low A*. Those who are the elites knew most of the questions, and got an A* ( a high one, as most people don't know the questions they know) and the score got widespread. The \"middle A*\" had very less people.

Stumbled upon a blog which calculates the T score.

Hope it is useful! -

The COP for this year will only be known on Dec22. ie. When MOE will inform the schools the lowest aggregate of the student posted to the school through Central Posting. You may call the schools to enquire on Dec 22. It will not be updated on the website till much later.Agree totally, experienced the same in my son's school. Original Title: T-Score vs grade
why is his T-score so low only 192 -> Eng - B, Chinese - A, Maths B and Sci A?
His classmate got Eng, Maths, Sci - B and Chinese A but score 204?
-
I belive the range of each grade can be quite wide. So low A and low B could have lesser t-score than another student with high A and high B.
My son’s friend has lower grades than him but T-score is higher. -
don't mind to share his grade, trying to do comparsion on score on subject vs the T-score. :stupid:
Do you think if I request to review the score is helpful? -
Grade and T score is different. Grade is the raw score which is converted to T score. The T score is an indication of how well your child did compared to other children taking the exam. Take it as ranking rather than your child's performance. My DS3 scored 3A* and 1 A but get lower score than his friend who get 2 A* and 2 A. Another child scored 9 points higher though she get the same grades as DS3. Anyway, knowing DS3 normal performance, I know his 2 A* are of a lower range. Example, if the raw score of 90 and above is A* for science and DS3 scored 91, it is translated into a low T score while if his friend scored 91 for Maths but the raw score is 85 and above for A*, his T score will be higher.
There's no way you can review the score cos it is calculated based on the raw score and the results of the whole cohort.

I am a worried mother. My daughter is very strong in languages but she is frightened of maths. We have tried different tutors and we all agreed she can do some sums at home but not the same sums in school , maybe due to stress and fear. Because of this, she got a* for cl, a for el, a for sc and B for maths. T score 237
anyone aware whether the t score this year is generally lower than previous 3 years for eg.
most of the schools she aimed for around 240 to 245 are now out of her range.
i am so lost and dont really know whether i should still try st margaret, or crescent for first choice or give up and just choose clementi or commonwealth.
anybody can share? :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:
