Had been reading through this thread and the individual RGS and NYGH threads. No nearer to coming to a decision.

Is that right? My dd wants to go RGS and DH and I want her to go NYGH, but we don't want to force her. Spoke to my friend whose dd is in sec 1 NYGH this year. She said she can tell me with great certainty that the teachers in NY are very good and caring.Last few years:After dsa parents whose dd had co for nygh and rgs always say that they want their dd in nygh. After psle they end up in rgs :scratchhead:

I meant \"in that sense\". Having KS parents, it's not necessarily bad thing, as long as parents know when to draw a line. There seems a correlation between how KS the parents are and how well the child perform in school.
U mean more kaisu = better ?? :scratchhead:
It seems to me RGS's parents are more involved in their dd's school than those of NYGH's.
Hope that will prompt more NYGH parents to share :boogie: .

Its a personal choice. I know of parents from both schools who are involved in their kid’s education. My dd was very clear that she wanted to join RGS. She has friends in both schools. Just realised that more than half her classmates joined RGS with some joining NYGH . More DSAed to NYGH than RGS given that most mainstreamers without sports DSA find it difficult to get into RGS.
The average PSLE score for RGS last year was 265. I wonder if any NYGH parent can share the average PSLE score for NYGH.
Positives for NYGH: Beautiful campus, lesser stress level (since there is a big population of students with lesser scores from the affiliated primary school), bilingual students
Negative: less exposure to other races, uniform, traffic outside the school
Positives for RGS : students of all races and nationality, preferred by most high ability kids ( most GEP students end up in this school), leads to the top ranked JC
Negative: cramped campus, traffic outside the school, higher stress level for some students (not all since my mainstream dd is coping well with no tuitions) -

During my time (i was born in mid 70s), The PSLE cut off point for RGS was ALWAYS higher than NYGH. It's the no. 1 girl's school. So I was quite surprised when I read that for last year, NYGH's COP was the highest. Seems like there's a shift?
last year my friend with a dd who had a score of 252 got into NYGH a day after the PSLE postings were released. No sports dsa.just based on psle score. -
My daughter can go toNYGH! So happy for her!
