      Dear verykiasu,

      Thanks.

Do check out Fo Guan Shan for sat night dharma class. I believe there is quite a few nearby Punggol.

It is located in Geylang rite if i am remembered correctly. I did call up to check last year but due to timing issue, we didn’t join.

Amitabha Buddhist Society organised Di zi gui classes too but heard it is with long waiting list. Do check out if you guys interesed.

Does anyone know where to buy the \"zhonghua dizigui\" DVDs in Singapore? I saw a few episodes on Youtube but would prefer DVD for easier viewing.

Dangdang.com seems to sell it but is this online store safe and reliable?
Don't worry, it's safe. Dangdang.com is the world's largest chinese online bookstore and listed on Nasdaq. There is a thread \"Order from Dang Dang\"
          http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=14081&start=1100

Many SG parents purchase books from dangdang

            True.

I myself bought a lot from dangdang but have stopped buying since a year ago.

It is still cheaper and place saving to get from library. Hee heee.

Would rather save it for travelling and spend only books that my child really likes it.

I simply bought too much in the past.

Was heart-broken to hear my 11-year old boy mentioned that the assignments given by parents are not worth doing compared to his teachers as there was incentive of marks allocated in school.

Moral value is a crucial foundation but was overlooked in today society 😓 , with emphasize on academic performance.

It was even depressing last year when he mentioned that he threatened that he will rather commit suicide than studied. :frustrated: (he didn't study di zi gui <弟子规> when he was younger as we are not aware of this gem teaching)

                  lovelydaughter:
Below is the television program segment that Master Jing Kong 淨空法師 emphasizes on the importance of di zi gui <弟子规> which has been successfully implemented in China 中国汤池小镇

How should we (principals, teachers and parents) teach children nowadays who threaten to commit suicide if we are too stern to them or misbehave if we don't discipline the them?

Teach di zi gui. By implementing di zi gui in China Tang Chi, people will be awakened to reality and see the truth.

                    How to teach Filial Piety?

                    Set a good example ourselves

When we take out the fruits from the fridge, who do we give to?
Should give the fruits to our Parents first or rather grandparents of our kids
(instead of giving to our children first, teaching them selfishness)

                    Parents-teachers coordination

Parents who know how to coordinate with teachers will see tremendous improvement in the behaviour of their children.

Husband and Wife synergy in teaching filial piety

Father should describe to the children the difficult ordeal that their mother went through during process of pregnancy (morning sickness) , at the time of giving birth (screaming due to extreme pain) and raising him up (her hands are in great pain as a result of constantly carrying them before they are 3 years)

Mother should describe to the children how tough their father spends long-term on his work so as to support and plan for the children

                      Hi lovelydaughter,

I missed your message. Such a coincident. 🙂

My view, No matter what the children are learning, or what we parent want them to learn, we should first learn it ourselves and learn together with them. That's what we are doing at home. Although only my son attending the 弟子规 lesson, but we recite with him daily. He's too young to understanding the meaning behind, but after he can recite it, sooner or later, I believe he will understanding the meaning behind what he's reading. 🙂 We have to have faith and believe in our children in their learning.
