Thanks for sharing. My son is quite confidence with his PSLE result. But from the past experience, he is not very consistence. This is base on his own standards as he is not the top 10 students in the school.
We will share with him the options and let him decide. We are also thinking of the option of school transfer if his results is very good. The chances of getting in by school transfer should be quite high as he was in the waiting list of the school.
Anyway, we are very happy if he can get in any of the 3 schools. -

I don't know the exact procedures to get a transfer if the child gets a confirmed offer from a school but becos' of higher PSLE scores and wish to participate in the normal MOE Sec 1 Posting. According to a parent I know, you have to go to the school which has given you an offer, and ask them to \"release you\". Then, you go to MOE to get permission to participate in the posting exercise. We are also thinking of the option of school transfer if his results is very good. Thanks lizawa.
We have spoken to RI and understand the proccess. They have given us some guidance. RI is quite professional, they have been sending my son greeting cards signed by the headmaster before the PSLE and also updates about the merger with RJC. -

RI has a supplementary intake exercise after the posting.

I am not sure about the other schools. -

NJC also has a strong history of achievement but I think they had lost some ground when they started their IP program late. So from last year they decided to admit students from year 1 instead of year 3. Some parents think they have resource and teething problems but will catch up eventually.
School fees. If your kid gets a scholarship then no problem. If not, the affordability factor comes in play. Schools like NJC, Dunman High and River Valley are not independent schools ā so their fees are much lower. When NJC came into the picture last year, it suddenly opened another door for parents preferring lower fees and a non SAP environment.kiasuson:
Hope to have more feedbacks on NJC especially about their boarding programme whereby every student from Y1 to Y6 MUST stay in their hostel for 1 term per year. Here's one of their Y1 http://jh104-united.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html but does not shed much information about NJC.The reason he gave was that NUSH is new and the pioneer batch has not even graduated yet. There are no Alumi to network and will find be difficult to find a job or support as compare to an RI/Duman High/NJC/HCI student. These IP schools have a large Alumi organisation that will help and support the student. They have rich history and culture that will the students.

NJC has a great Alunmi network. Imagine the number of President scholars it produced and also the number of minister and top civil servant it has. They are also the first JC in Singapore.

But their president scholars come from other secondary schools and many feel stronger affiliation to their secondary schools than to NJC. Moreover, it has stopped producing president scholars for so many years-what they call \"president scholars drought'. -

As of 2008, NJC has not produced a President's Scholar for 12 years running, the last being Lee Chen Ee in 1996. This is the longest President Scholar drought faced by the college, the second-longest being a 3-year drought from 1993-1996. -
Vanilla Cake:
If you look at the history and analyse, they basically lost up to the IP schools because they do not have strong affialation to any secondary schools. I think their new IP scheme to start from Sec 1 will help them to secure some top students. It will take some time for them. I always believe in the Alunmi network. Look at how the schools with strong Alunmi network survive and properous.WeiHan:
