RE: Hwa Chong Institution (High School)
JustKP:
Anyone knows more about the 课程 by now (I didn't get the paper)? Is it for high ability students in CL or the weak ones? If it is to help students learn more CL and improve CL marks, then the weak ones like my DS (A in CL) should attend. My same concern as JustKP, \"What if they can't cope, can they drop-out?\"My DS brought back a piece of paper entitled : 中一语特课程(算一科目的分数)。 Anyone here knows what is this all about. My DS says is LEP (chinese), but I thought LEP is part of CSE which starts in year 3. According to him, if you do well in it, it will help in your chinese language marks and vice versa. I would like to know how long do they have to stay on this course (i.e. Year 1 only or throughout the 4 years or ....)? What if they can't cope, can they drop-out?
If you have any details about this, appreciate if you can share it here.
Thank you.
Thank you! -

RE: Hwa Chong Institution (High School)
I don’t know why HCI can’t reserve Thu for 3rd language just like NYGH does. NYGH reserves Wed for 3rd language, even no CCA or other activities on Wed afternoon. NYGH also provide transport to language centers. Why can’t HCI do the same for the interests of students. It’s arrogant that HCI doesn’t want to change the schedule, yet ask students to change theirs individually (a lot are affected).

RE: Traffic at NYGS, NJC & RGPS @ Bkt Timah Rd & Eng Neo
NYGH starts at 7:20am everyday except Mon which starts at 8:20am
HCI starts at 7:20 everyday.
BTW, today’s trafic along Dunearn Rd (near Linden Rd) was rather bad from 7:10am. We were stuck for more than 20min. A lot of kids were later to school. -
RE: Triple Sciences
Hi daisyt, sorry for the misleading. I should use "grade" or "score" for individual subject, instead of "MSG". MSG refers to the the average grade of all subjects for a pupil. So every pupil has grade for each of her subjects and an average grade (MSG) for all the subjects she has been examed. The individual grade of a subject affect your decision whether you want to choose the same subject for advanced study. Anyway, most of the pupils like to choose the subjects that they can get good marks easily.

RE: Triple Sciences
hi daisyt, MSG = Mean Subject Grade. In some schools, the higher the better, while in others, the lower the better. In NYGH, the perfect score is average 1.0. My dd in NYGH.

RE: Triple Sciences
Thanks James!
After reading your advice, I am more confident that my daughter has made the right decision. My daughter also choose triple science for sec3 next year. She likes humanity, enjoy reading and writing, however, the MSG was poor especially History. She does not like bio much, however, the MSG for math and science was very good. This left her no choice but to pick triple science. Hope the IP courses still balance her interests and performance. -
RE: When to go for holidays (for PSLE children) ?
Thank you mummyjoyce and phankao! I will ask the proxy to attend the briefings and communicate with us by SMSs. My child’s case is quite simple, he will go to DSA school, so he doesn’t need to do transfer. Thanks!

RE: When to go for holidays (for PSLE children) ?
I have already booked the tickets and I think we will miss the registration date (23 Dec). Can anyone advise me what will be done on registration date. Besides doing registration, any other application or decision should be made on that day? We can always buy books and uniform later. Thanks!
