      Blissedsher:
Thank u so much to those who pmed me . I cant seem to reply . So i gotta do it here. Thanks for the tips . I am also working on my own patience . Will try harder to talk to him .

      Hi, Blissedsher.

Sometimes, things can be settled in less stressful way if we take note on our tone and way when talking to the kids, especially for strong-willed type (agreed with Zac's mum - they don't like to be told what to do and not to do and give them choices if possible). For emotional sensitive kids, it is quite stressful for the caregivers, classmates and teachers (basically people around he/she) as the kids can just act out or throw tantrums uncontrollably and unexpectedly. Tips like let them calm down first and acknowledge their feeling after that (instead of scolding or spanking) will be helpful to deal with the kids' tantrums/mischef behaviours in the future. Also, has to be patient enough to see the improvement due to their stubbornness to change themselves.

Can pm me if you need to talk in private message.

Hope my reply is not too late.

    • RE: Anyone know any good Child Psychologist ?

Also, try to communicate with the school teachers and principal on working cooperatively to improve your child problem. Sometimes, your child doesn’t want to speak up or act out because he/she has strong mindset on the adults negative reactions if your child doesn’t understand the real situation and lost trust on teachers. You know your child better than anyone, so communication is a key thing to open up the child’s heart. I notice that many childcare centre school teachers don’t have trained experience on dealing real smart kids, so they won’t be able to understand your child needs. It will be better to talk/ demonstrate to your child on how to deal with situations outside the house as 4 yo should be able to understand and communicate well especially when they are smarter.

Hi, Jaelteo. I also attended many workshops this year. Listen to tips, advices and ideas given to deal with children tantrums issue. I notice that sometimes the children maybe too energetic and bored to create troubles especially for smarter kids. Unless you are pretty sure that the child has something unusual like not able to sit or focus even for their interests, show extreme sensitive to environment/smell/noise/taste or yelling/ screaming usually, then you can consider to visit a children physiologist for assessment. I mean sth like ADHD and autism. You will have to consider the possible high cost and stress if you are not aware of that.

Showing love and entremely patient when dealing with smart children can help to improve the tantrums issues most of the time. When they make mistakes, need to be firm and fair with the statements and punishment given. You can review after 1-3 months if there is any improvement after you as a parent make some changes. When they are smart in learning, they may be slow in EQ development. So it depends on how well you can accept your child nature way he/she is.

      Hope this may help.

Hi Monchch. Have you checked the new chinese MC preschool in Tampines too? Compared to the older MC in Tampines. I like the lady (Forgot is manager or principal) Joyce who talked to me n hubby as she seems quite enthusiasm to encourage the young to talk more Chinese. The school is new but not so crowded. The older MC is always full and long waiting list but the school seems quite squeezy.

    • RE: All About Piano Lesson Costs

      Hi Waiyean.

Any comment on Yamaha? DH said charges is cheaper. If we can’t find a suitable home piano teacher for the kid yet, thinking to change to Yamaha. Temporarily, let the kid stay on the current one til end of the year. We also need to time to look around, the teacher can teach basic things first. Also, we got free piano to use still.

Please pm me if you have good home piano teacher who is fine to teach young kids to recommend. Thanks.

    • RE: All About Piano Lesson Costs

      Hi Waiyean.

Thanks for the suggestions. The competition idea is good. I will try it.

My child normally remembers the songs after few days practice. So u mean covering the labelling to help sight reading faster or memorise it like my child does? She normally uses her own ways to memorise things so most of the times she doesn’t listen and follow my words. I will still try the ways that u suggested see if it works. The kid is the type performs better with challenges.

So u mean $80 to $100 is for 30 or 45 mins? My child’s teacher is quite young mid 20s so I am not sure if she has > 5 yrs experiences. Although she is not those money minded type, I don’t feel she is passionate enough type to guide the young piano learners. That’s why we may not stay with this teachers for long. We find that it is not easy to get a good teacher to teach the young kids. Planning to change to a better piano teacher if we can a good and passionate one to guide the kid.
