Thank you thank you all for sharing !
My feet went wobbly each time i recall those incidents (had a couple) and every single fever alarm or call from teachers (yes I was kiasu enough to tell them to call me whenever the temp is above 37 deg) will make me jump and drop whatever I was doing and rushed to pick him up/home. Felt guilty and helpless too when sometimes you thought it’s due to your fault that perhaps ibufern was administered not fast enough.
I dont think others will be able to understand until you have seen your own child in that state before …

Febrile Fits
I am a mother that needs assurance or "proof" to make me less paranoid.
Anyone here with kids that had febrile fits before and actually "outgrow" it ie stops after age 5 or 6 as advised by docs? -
RE: All About English Speech & Drama Enrichment
I'll raise both my hands and say GO FOR IT.
Speech and drama helps to develop
- speech (teacher will correct kid's prouniciation when asked to recite)
- creativity (get to play out the character)
- social development (group activities)
- using stories to teach kids right or wrong (moral values)
& most importantly, FUN is the thing that kids associate with and will tell you about. I notice my kid is also more vocal and less shy and I believe speech and drama helps.
PS: I am not a speech and drama teacher in case you ware wondering  -
RE: All About English Creative Writing
I remembered hating composition when I was younger 'cos it's comething that I cannot relate to. Don't think it matters if it's given a better name called \"creative writing\"
What I did recently (so far working) is to blend it with his interest. For instance, he loves to compose with musical notes (produce pieces which doesn't make sense really). So I told him to think of a story and build his music on his piece of story. So he wrote a story on a stormy night and \"compose\" a fast piece of loud music piece symbolising a stormy night. Praises and appreciation of his own composed music is where he gets his motivation for his next piece of work. Didn't force him to do that everyday as he needs his inspiration too
So if your kid likes to draw, get hhim/her to write a stroy about it and share. That might work too. Good luck. -
RE: All About Kids' Eye-sight
My kid had his done organised his preschool/MCYS early K1 (5 yrs old) this year. After that, I started to see many of his classmates turning up in spectacles.
If you suspect your kid has eye problem esp lazy eye, it’s best to checkup early for early intervention as I understand. -
RE: Kids' ambitions
On the way to school today my 5-year old boy asked me,"mom, why aren’t you a policewoman?" (No I dont want to).
He then asked, "what did you want to be when you were growing up?"
I replied without thinking "maybe a doctor or lawyer."
An innocent response goes "then what happen to you now?" (obviously I am neither a doc nor a lawyer).
To all parents out there
1. Cherish your kid(s) childhood dreams - - be it to be a train owner or composer - it’s kindda sad when parents can’t remember theirs.
2. Do not impose on your kids YOUR ambitions (which you yourelf maynot have been able to fulfil yourself) - it’s THEIRS that count …
Cheers -

RE: Tuition Vs Enrichment classes
My take is IT DEPENDS.
If help is needed in subject matter/coursework - go for TUITION
If help is needed in motivation/doing beyond subject work - go for ENRICHMENT -
RE: [Sembawang] Primary Schools
I am evaluating between Canberra and Endeavour. Heard Endeavour’s principle is from ex Nan Chiau and I met a Endeavour parent that had praises for the school and said she got turned off the arrogant staffs at Canberra. Guess there are different sides of the story then. One thing for sure, Endeavour’s school website is definitely much better than Canberra’
s (my humble view) and I like the school’s philosophy is in all that they do, they do it for the pupils.
Endeavour’s Open House is Jul 19 morning. Anyone know when’s Canberra’s?
