RE: Legoland Malaysia
I have oso bought d annual pass.. however I just found out on their roadshow that it will only entitle you to the rides.. :censored: by that I mean u know USS has a fast past que extra ticket that they sell in addition to the general ticket. The legoland annual pass does not include the fast pass, whereas the USS does.. (well if you get the premium pass) so in addition to the annual fees I just paid out.. I still have to buy the extra top up so don't have to que..
I am too concerned about the safety but at least the CEO is German, I have been to the German one which was safe and clean.. so hopefully he will bring that same professionalism to Legoland Malaysia... -
RE: why most of primary students start morning session before 8?

RE: Games that trains thinking and/or educational
Wii Big Brain Academy… (though they need to be a little older) Xbox Kinetic Body and Brain Connection. DS loves playing but not either of these… (similar to Schichida Method…) but not easy… hence DS 4 doesn’t really get into it like KIRBY…

RE: Travel: Japan - Tokyo & Disneyland
I travelled both Delta and United (United last yr December) whatever you do no ticket can be so cheap as to ever travel on either of these airlines. If need be ANA or SQ pricier, but unless you are willing to entertain your kid for 6-9 hours (depending any delays or not), they do not even have an entertainment unit in the back of the head rest for UNITED
My kid couldn't see the monitor above...Lucky we had the Ipad (which might I add ran out of batteries by the time we got there...
Only under duress will I fly again.. The cathay one we also did you are allowed a stop over (either on the way there or back) but the layover in HK coupled with the flight time not advisable unless your kid is a good traveller probably in upper primary..
DS was 4 and both DH and I were exhausted .. ended up sleeping the first day at Tokyo Bay Hilton.. even though we had pre-purchased afternoon tickets for Disneyland.. -
RE: Zoophonics
My son has been with the tampines branch… I can’t say enough about the teachers at the Tampines Mart branch. I can’t vouch for the entire franchise but my son goes to a branded ang moh international school in the afternoon, however I feel they do not prepare him enough for P1.
Hence my son goes to 2 different schools M-F. The teachers at the tampines although worksheet heavy for sure, they are fantastic, their english is excellent and I do believe at least one of them holds an MBA from a reputable PHIL. university…
My son can read (didn’t learn it at LW but at Tampines Zoophonics), he can write simple sentences since N2… yes their program is almost 100% like GUG, my son has been there too but if you compare the fees 800+++ per month to 380 dollars Zoophonics wins hands down… just my 2 cents worth. I cannot speak more highly of the teachers at this branch. I would give it a try before you make up your mind. -
RE: Small fish in big pond or big fish in small pond?
Speaking of small fish in a big pond … I am trying to figure out or test which one is better in terms of final PSLE result. A* in an average school or A / B in a good school. I was hoping that someone has already done the hard work and some statistical analysis… and could chime in the answer.

RE: Advice Needed Urgently! Withdraw from SAP Sec School !
Not that I have ever home schooled but my parents had friends of theirs whose kids were the same age as my brother and I.. infact they had 4 kids. They did decide to homeschool them, and none of the children attended any formal classes prior to university. They passed their O and A levels with flying colours. At university their first year's results were absolutely crap but once they got the hang of it both of them finished with fairly good marks, (the other two are much younger so I don't really know how they did) but kid 1 barrister (lawyer in the high court) kid 2 doctor.
Not too shabby for homeschooling... I think if its the kids choosing.. and he has gone as far as finding out if there is any other way out of school rather than having to attend.
Also he is not saying he wants to stop learning.. he is saying he wants to stop going to school.. to me its completely different.. Some kids thrive in a social environment others prefer their own company. it makes no sense to me to force someone to be miserable for the next 5 years who otherwise could become brilliant on his own.
I would make a contract with him that he has to sit for the formal exams if anytime he fails he is back at school.. at most you will lose one year.. worth it in my opinion. But if he will study than you might even get next Steve Jobs in your brother's house..
I say let him try..
Also.. and I don't know the details but there are several open university programs (UK & Australia) as well as Poly (TAFE) and their is a distance learning high school for Farmers in remote properties in Australia that he could \"attend\" Radio school or something.. like that.. he can do many courses as well on top of or in addition to his current home schooling which will give him additional marks / points when he is applying to universities.. esp. if its a foreign uni.. -
RE: Zoophonics
Anyone’s child in K1 or K2? How well do you think this school prepares them for Primary 1? There seem to be an awful lot of worksheets, which may give the apperance that the school is preparing them for primary however if they just copying and not really learning, I might as well be buying the worksheets from popular…
I am a little curious if anyone’s kid has moved from K2 Zoophonics to primary 1without a hitch… ?
GUG Kindergarten consistantly has feedback that the child is well prepared for primary, and they run the same program (with a few extras at GUG) as Zoophonics but they are triple the price so I am trying to see if worth it or not?
Anyfeedback is greatly appriciated.
