• RE: 2014 P1 Registration Exercise for 2015 In-Take

Melaniessl:
Hi,

Need some advice and tips if possible.

I will be registering my son in Phase 2B to a school that our church is affiliated with (School A).
However, our 1st choice school is actually School B, which we can only register in Phase 2C.

I understand that we should register to School A first in Phase 2B to secure a seat. And then be on standby in Phase 2C. If it seems that we have a chance to get into School B (1st choice) then we need to withdraw the 2B registration at School A and quickly register to School B.

Question:
- Is my understanding above correct that we can withdraw the Phase 2B registration at School A and then quickly register to School B at Phase 2C?
- How much time is needed to withdraw the registration from one school and the re-register at another school?

If there is any link or tips that anyone can share, will be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

1) Yes you can do that.
2) Time to withdraw is a matter of minutes, depending on how busy the admin clerks are at the school. 2 hours should be a good gauge.

This register-withdraw-register strategy is best executed with one parent being stationed at both schools.

Remember, you take a big risk of not catching any birds at all if you wrongly estimate the demand in the target school.

Sorry but i need to ask further on this as it may be a possible scenario for hubby and me. So let's say we split up - one parent at registered school to withdraw. Does he need 2 ics to withdraw?

Upon withdrawing, other parent immediately take number at other school to queue up for registering. Do you need 2 ics to take queue number? Because other parent can't register until person comes with 2 ics right?

Sorry for being so specific but i don't want to take any chances. šŸ™‚

Thanks in advance.
I asked the school that I registered my child at this same question and I was told both ICs are required when de-registering. Not photocopies. And we know both ICs are required when registering. So unless the schools are very near to each other, it will be a challenge to de-register at one school and register at another within minutes. My scenario is during P2A2, not sure if it applies to your scenario. Suggest a call to MOE or the schools to be sure. Good luck!

Would anyone like to advise where we can find good Montessori playgroups in the AMK/Bishan/Thomson area?

How about United Montessori House?
Click the blue link here http://www.unitedmontessorischoolhouse.com/index.htm

You can read up discussions and post questions for Cherie Hearts here.
Hope this helps. šŸ˜‰ http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=554

Buds, thanks šŸ™‚

United Montessori seems promising. I visited the cc and find its environment better than most nearby cc that I visited earlier. The principal is warm and patient too. However, the cc is full now and we'll have to wait till early next year...

Does anyone have any comment on Sunny Bunny? Is this a good Montessori cc?

I've visited Greentree and Character Montessori (AMK) but found them less ideal than expected...

I've also visited a Cherie Hearts centre near my mom's place and found its environment bright and clean, though it is non Montessori. Does anyone have any comments on their curriculum?

Thanks šŸ™‚

Hi all.

I'm new to this forum as well as the world of local child care.

We like the Montessori approach and are thinking of sending our boy to a Montessori playgroup in AMK/Thomson area.

Does anyone have any comments or personal experience with Greentree and Character Montessori (AMK)? Especially the latter, someone has asked earlier and there has been no response so far.

Buds,
Your contributions on the Montessori approach. How nice of you to spend time and effort informing others. Kudos to you! šŸ™‚

• Hellooooo everyone...

Hi fellow mamas and papas.

I'm new to this forum as well as the world of local parenting.

My family has just returned from overseas stay and we have an 18-month old boy. Almost everyday we are learning something new on parenting, and there is more to learn now that we are back. Like where is a good playgroup, what are kids expected to know by the time they attend mainstream education, where are fun places to bring kids to, etc. As well as what are the good, trusted formula brands, too many here! Wahaha šŸ˜„

Children are a great blessing and we hope to give ours a happy childhood.

Cheers.
