NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (Diploma)

Yes, the teachers & mentors are most helpful, just to share, my DS1's Chemistry teacher has gone to the extent to arrange for a senior mentor for him to prepare him for acceleration to Year 3 Chemistry. The school is willing to assist students as long as the students have the interest & potential, even if it's only one student.WoonieNed:
Went to the preview of NUS High today. I may say, I'm very very impressed with NUS High. Their facilities, teachers and seniors left us good and deep impression. And the best best thing of all, there will no \"O\" level or \"A\" level examinations for my son! !! Their system is somewhat like NUS based on credits and such. They'll have a diploma at the end of their 6 years course and the chance of getting into NUS is very high. I nearly burst into tears of relief when I heard that. Now, need to encourage him to sustain there for the next 6 years. ... :boogie:
Fully agree. We are impressed too, and we think DS has made the right choice even though it's far from our place. We feel that it will be the place that can further develop his interests and strengths. -
Is there school bus from school to home?

Is there school bus from school to home?
Yes. I remembered last year on Matriculation Day (sometime in Dec), there will be a counter where you can sign up for school bus. They will collate requirements from students and will plan for the pick-up time in the morning.
Should be the same for this year. -

Thanks Jon101 for the info.TanJ:

Thanks Jon101 for the info.[/quote]Forgot to mention that the school bus is only one way, i.e. from home to school in the morning. As the dismissal time for students are different based on the year of the students as well a the electives and CCA that the student takes, there is no bus transport from school to home.Jon101:

Based on past graduating cohorts it 100% into local univ and top overseas for those with A*Star, DSTA, DSO or PSC (and more recently SAF scholarship) and students on PapaMama scholarship b'cos NUSH Diploma and curriculum is highly-rated in Ox-Bridge,Austrralian and IVY league universities. For those graduating from NUSH there are already half-a-foot in most universities for science and maths related courses. The sterling performance of ex-NUSH graduate in top notch (Imperial College) UK university ( eg Chua-Lynn ) actually trigger UK academics to visit NUSH personally to understand why she is so outstanding in her area of study. -
Those studied well because they hv interest, love math and sci so much. Therefore they would like to put in effort. So, do remember that the 6 yrs school life in NUSH is not relaxing or it is a way to escape O and A levels.
If u notice, NUSH accept lesser students in recent years including Yr 3 input. They select students carefully these two years.
If u can be selected, do consider carefully. It is really a good school. Lesser competition, more concentration on yr study. (For RI, RGS, HCI, NGHS ā¦, students hv to be the top certain % to get into the subjects they like, however, in NUSH, u can choose what u like if yr results reach certain level, no quota limited. Soooooo gooooood.) -

I totalllllllyyy agree with you... The \"old\" girl from NUSH also mentioned that studying at NUSH is such a joy, because you really are studying for your interest, and not to compete with one another. Opportunities are many too, for these students of NUSH.Those studied well because they hv interest, love math and sci so much. Therefore they would like to put in effort. I had this really deep impression of this quote from the Principle. He said NUSH is a test of life, not live of tests... That means a lot.... :snuggles: -

Not true. For RI and RGS, you can choose whatever subject combination you like and the school will try its best to accomodate you. Even if you are the ONLY student choosing that particular combination, the school will arrange for you to take it. That's how flexible and accomodating the schools are. And there's no such thing as having to be the top certain percentage to get into a subject. And no quota either.
