Except for the first day that he was feeling down because he misses his friends and sec school, my ds is adapting ok in MJC. Came back late for most of orientation days. Not used yet to the amount of time taken for his journey as he had been walking to and from school for the past ten years. 😉
ACJC needs A1 to take Lit at H2 level... Similarly ELL would have some criteria in NYJC as well.

So it is all good :imcool:

Oh you need A1 in Lit to take it at H2? Rather strict criteria. Or is that common in other JCs as well?

I guess , it has to be Pure human subject as well at O level , meaning it cannot be SS+Lit...
Both NYJC & Catholic has english test to qualify for ELL...
Won't that mean that very few will take H2 Lit? It seems like there is a move away from Lit in Singapore. Why? I think it's not a good thing for the nation!

And , if student dun take it at O level , they will not for A level because you can't cope. So it is number game to get in good JC.

I think it should be left to the student to decide. Since so few take it at O level, the JC should have more flexible criteria for A level. I really feel that our nation is going backwards - they started encouraging humanities in the 70s, and now it looks like we need to do it again!

But we don’t know if this is across different JCs or just for ACJC in particular. Other JCs may be more encouraging of students taking Lit.

She consulted various people and were given different opinion. Some of the Lit seniors told her she doesn't really need Lit at O level to do H2 Lit because it is quite different. Others tell her she will have a harder time. There were also accounts of ppl topping A level Lit even though they did did not do Lit at O levels.

In the end, she dropped the idea of taking Lit.

True. Anyone know? I know that MI has pretty low requirements!

Science students can take H2 Lit as contrasting subject , but to move to ARTs stream with 3 subject which you didn't study at O level is pretty uncommon.
For e.g Student having SS+Lit as only humanity subject at O- level would not be able to cope 3 ARTs H2 subjects like ECON, Lit, history.

Your dream isn't that far. Your son can start with joining the HP CSE class in Sec3. 😄
