      Hi,

I am asking on behalf of my aunt. Wondering if anyone has the breakdown of Jiemin Pri Sch in Yishun? Saw from MOE website that there are 71 places but with 82 students. Anyone has any info if SC within 1km need to ballot?

      TIA!

heard from my friend, she called up Compassvale Pri this morning. All SC within 1km is in 🙂

Yes, have called up Compassvale pri to check this morning and confirmed that all SC within 1km all got in. 1 to 2km SC got to go for balloting.

              Kiddies:

Anyone had update on HWS for phase 2C? Unable to get thru the school admin tel number.

Only info. is from MOE website, 68 applicants for 46 vacanies.

I called them on Friday 4:45pm, the info I got was 67 within 1 km balloting for 47 vacancies.

carilyn, phtthp and ChiefKiasu, thanks for your earlier replies.
I decided to risk it on HWS, based on location of school as top priority. Wish those balloting in Phase 2C all the best together.

Just adding my 2 cents on the registration system....
I agree that the priority is a bit unfair and doesn't help to promote meritocracy. Glad that this year, some token action was taken to increase chances for those with no connections to school. But as mentioned by some, the number of reserved seats should be tied to a percentage, rather than absolute numbers.
However, not allowing withdrawals from earlier phases will just make Phase 2C even more competitive as parents hold off final decision. The vacated seats should be handled differently, in my opinion. 1 way could be giving those, qualified for the earlier phases but didn't get it, a priority. But that is administratively overwhelming and causes more stress with very limited benefits. One easy way out could be giving those qualified for earlier phases a priority, only if, they re-registered in the same school in the later phases.
For the ATS case, I can only say that the affected parents went into the situation either with their eyes wide open, or completely shut tight (e.g. deeply praying for some miracle). Historically grossly oversubscribed, they must have known the risks of parents coming in last minute. But I do feel sorry that they have completely missed their chance to secure a place in Phase 2C. However, I must add that this missed chance is in no way different to those who are going for balloting and subsequently got balloted out. All will have missed their chance to secure a place (due to a risk they have undertaken), just that some know the results immediately instead of after an agonising wait.

True. For ATS case, the affected parents should be well prepared for the worst scenerio.

There are suggestions that registration be closed on second day and those in over subscribed schools to be allowed to re register in other schools on third day.

What happens if these affected parents finally decide to register in schools within 1km? Wouldn't this affect the applications of those register on 1st or 2nd day?

Then these parents in over 1km would kpkb too when their chances might be affected too. It would be a never ending cycle.

I have been reading this web site ever since my child was born 6 years ago。

I often wondered how I would feel when it is my child\"s turn to register this year. Now I know - incredible stress !

I have no connection whatsoever to the popular schools. However I live within one km of a popular school.

I could have registered in phase 2B - I was asked if I wanted to join as a grassroots leader , but I declined. I could also have joined the church/ clan, which I briefly did, only to drop out as I just did not have the conviction to go thru with it.

In the end, as I did not have the conviction to join any of the
Interest groups, I relied solely on phase 2c , fervently hoping that my being within one km would be enough.

When this year's registration started, I began to feel guilty towards my child. I should have just stayed with the interest groups, and apply via 2b.

Today, I took leave the whole day, just reading and refreshing this forum. My tablet must have been broken by now!

I want to thank everyone for making this such a great forum and for sharing. You guys are the best!

Tonight, I am going to watch my child sleep, and hug and kiss my little one. Like all parents, my child means everything to me. This is only the beginning of a life long journey of learning. It has been quite a day!
Jia you mommy! I'm also at the same league, feel quilty for not doing more for my daughter

What I am going to post maybe off topic.

As parents, we want the best for our kids.
Those who register kids in popular schools may feel that these schools will help their children do/learn well because of the environment…having hardworking kids as classmates.
Most kids could be well enriched with tuition/enrichment so much so that teachers do not need to teach much…what is there to teach when students already know. But for those who are not so blessed with tuition, then they will be unfortunate if teacher doesn’t teach.

By registering kids in highly popular schools, they must be able to take the heat. If any parent chooses a not so popular school, there is no need to feel the guilt because education is a long journey.

SAJS called up to confirm the balloting time on 6th wed.

And i was hoping that they would absord the extra 2 applicants.
                        can only 🙏 , 🙏 & 🙏 for our good luck!
