2014 P1 Registration Exercise for 2015 In-Take

Hi
Marymount convent will be ideal but i am outside 2km... In fact... I am outside 2km of all the girl's school! And there is no more school I can choose from... not even co-ed...
I guess I can only monitor a few of my choices. Canossa Convent being one of them... and maybe Katong Convent?lil_jade:
Hmmm, Marymount would be the best choice actually, but it's hotly contested (based on past years) for SC>2km. Will you be < 2km?
Alternatively, there's the CHIJ in bukit panjang which is a gals' school that's nearer to you too (not sure about the possible competition as it didn't enter 2CS last year). Canossa Convent near Aljunied is a good consideration as this year, 52 vacancies.
I suggest you monitor on the last day and see what's the number like in Marymount (or any other gals school), and be prepared to zoom over to Canossa Convent if the odds there are better. I believe some parents situate one person at each place to monitor. -

I would prefer girls' school... and I stay at Bukit Timah... I would want to avoid balloting as much as possible
[quote]Hi finnfinn,
Don't lose heart, I'm sure if you research well and monitor the numbers on the last day of 2CS, you'll be in the position to avoid balloting as much as possible.
You're keen only on gals' schools, or keen on schools that are nearest to you? Perhaps with this information, there'll be many here who can advise you on possible options.
I am sorry to hear about you not getting into your choice school at 2C and feel your heartache but it is now passed and let's try another go with 2C supp. Take a look at the schools closer to your home which have more vacancies and try for those instead of those with lesser place if you do not wish to be subjected to ballot again. Looking at the list of schools it would be hard to get an all girl school around bukit timah. Even closest CHIJ at bukit panjang has only 13 places left so may need balloting. I think if not wrong for bukit timah, there are vacancies at bukit timah primary for now.
Like the earlier comments from this thread, you could try to secure a place in a school that has vacancies and try to wait list in the school you desire for your child. There's no guarantee but worth trying and who knows at a later stage there could be a place after all in the school you desired. Could even be when school term has started in the new year.
Hope you are able to get a place next week and don't lose heart. -

You probably need to monitor Marymount cos last year, it and canossa convent were the only 2 gals' schools in 2CS, hence the fierce balloting for MCS. This year, since so many girls' schools are in 2CS, there's a good chance that it may lessen the pressure in MCS? -
Hi
Really hope the numbers will spread out a bit cos of the seats available at many of the girl's schools (3 CHIJ schools, St Anthony Canossian, Canossa Convent, Haig Girls)...
You know when I am able to put our name on the wait list? Different schools work differently?lil_jade:

Not sure, but I think you can start approaching the schools once your DD has confirmed a place next week. Probably, you can take these few days to check out more on the few gals' schools which interest you / you think there's a good chance.Hi

In the north -
A lot of parents with daughters who failed to ballot in at Ai Tong, Pei Chun, CHIJ St nick / Tpy, St Margaret, plus other Bishan / Toa Payoh / Ang Mo Kio zone at Phase 2C yesterday -
Will turn to MaryMount, will be highly sought after, in p2C Supp.
In the east -
Parents with dd who failed to ballot in at p2C Yesterday, will target CHIJ Katong Convent, Haig Girls, Tanjong Katong, Canossa Convent primary. -
phtthp:
Yes, agree with what Phtthp said. Most parents in Phase 2Cs may bear that guilty feeling that they have to get the next best school for their children. They could be berating themselves why they chose to go through balloting and failed. There is no point crying over split milk. Decision has been made in Phase 2C and you have to move on. Just choose the next alternative school for your children. In the north -

First ask yourself, which school is nearest to you? It’s because that will be the one you should go for. Phase 2C(S) is not for parents to cherry pick anymore, because if you go for balloting but fail, you will have to make do with whatever the Ministry assigns to your child.
Choosing the school that is nearest to you makes the most sense because it guarantees you the highest chance of getting into the school by Phase 2C(S).
Unless you are staying <1km from East Spring, you should look elsewhere. You will have a much safer bet with Junyuan, which hopefully is <1km to you.
My place is in between the two schools, almost the same distance -
Year 2012 phase 2C East Spring Pri vacancies all fully taken no vacancies for phase 2Csupp
This is last year 2013 phase 2Csupp schools conducting balloting
East Spring Primary School
All SC children are admitted to the school in this phase. Balloting will be conducted for PR children residing within 1km of the school.
Junyuan Primary School
Balloting will be conducted for SC children residing between 1km and 2km of the school.
East spring this yr total vacancies is only 180 whereas Junyuan Pri this year has a total of 240 vacancies.
More vacancies would be better as more chance for you. But again distance priority will come in if needed for balloting. so gauge your chance.
Thank you. Last Year, east spring has 4 place for 2cs and this year increase to 12. If last year, it’s balloting only among PR, I thought I would be quite safe this year. And Since Junyuan increase the place from 210 seats to 240 seats this year, I think it’s also safe for 2cs. So I assumed I can go either one and wanted to target a better one. -
Hi all,
Need advice here. If I apply in 2Cs via online then I wish to withdraw from the school due to it need balloting. How do I go about it? As I really do not wish to go thru the balloting process again.
Pls help. Thks.
