        Hi,

A troubled mummy seeking for advice here. My DD is year 4 this year and she wants to transfer class because she really don’t like her classmates in her current class. She doesn’t like their attitude towards studies and that bothers her a lot as she was always the one working hard in projects and the rest of the members will drag her overall project grades down no matter how hard she worked every time. Not only that, her teachers are spending more time trying to lecture the class rather than teaching. I tell her to just mind her own business in Year 3 but she really can’t stand it as it is affecting her academic wise and also social relationship wise as she is always the one alone in class. She couldn’t find any good study partners and have to study every thing on her own. Seeking advice from all mummies and students, what should I do to help my DD? Should I speak to the level head as the level head and year head knows what is happening in my DD’s class so it won’t really help much? Thank you all

Not every subject is examined or tested as a group project all the time I guess ?

Did you feedback during meet the parents sessions which I am sure there are ?

Suggest u email to make an arrangement to speak to the teacher- in- charge of the projects...
Bring out the problems yr DD faces with her project mates...
( but this is a new academic yr, she may not meet the same project mates)...

I had the same problem regarding slacking project mates when my gal was in lower Sec ...
I spoke to the RS teacher....abt the 2 boys in her grp ...they were uncooperative, not able to be present for meetings scheduled, produced sub- std work ....
In the end, my gal ( together with another) were the ones who did most of the work ...
Much time was wasted becos she had to do the heavy editing of final submission due to the work produced by the 2 boys...

Sometimes, it needs some luck to get good, competent project teammates ....
Thankfully, her last yr, PW teammates were excellent...she said best of all yrs.... :please:

If there are other reasons where yr DD wanna to change class besides her project teammates....
Pls make an arrangement to see the level head to discuss abt it...see what she/ he can do to assist yr DD...

All the best to yr DD....

For one, my niece has just graduated from Dunman High and although some teachers have been a great help, there are some who truly have wasted her time during lessons. In the Senior High programme in Dunman High, there are often complaints of the less than average economic teachers who are unsure of the syllables that would teach you in JC1, before moving on to JC2 where you would finally able to get proper teachers. Is this the case for Dunman High's senior high programme.
Econs is quite a tough subject to handle. My guess is that in year 1, you are still going through the basic contents in micro. Besides, it will never be in the curriculum to teach how to tackle questions and if the teacher does it, it will be just before the A levels. My understanding is that this is the norm even in HCI and RI. Students are left to sink usually in the first year unless you get the help of the tuition agencies.

Students are left to \"sink\" on their own in every school every subject unless the students take an interest to ensure he/she understand the stuff and cope. Making appointments to consult teachers is a norm. Not every one goes for tuition.

Please don't expect hand holding and spoon feeding once out of PSLE
