PE 2x a week and yes you have to change out after PE. From this year (no more air cond classrooms), they have been allowed to wear t-shirt and culottes everyday except Tuesday when they have assembly. But due to covid, there is no assembly, so one can actually wear culottes everyday.

Seems like more than 90% of girls will take 9 subjects in year3. Although RA is optional, seems like 2/3 takes up this as well… I wonder how all an average student can cope with such heavy commitments?

The school starting time is always 7.30am except Thursday’s where it’s late day (for normal years) but since there’s COVID there’s no more late day so everyday will start at 7.30am. Dismissal timings are not confirmed and varies with timetable, usually around 1.30, but sometimes it’s 12.30 or 2.30

Hi, can parents share the rough number of girls who take triple humanities(EL Literature, History and Geography) in RGS, and can anyone with kids taking triple humanities share why did they take triple humanities, and how your daughter is managing with this subject combination? Thanks!

I dun think anyone can take the combination of Lit, History and Geog. All upper sec students need to take some form of social studies (MOE rule). For IP schools, school will repackage it to combine social studies with some other related studies (eg. Social studies with philosophy/economics etc). So if take triple humanities, it would be this social studies-cum-others + 2 humanities subjects (choose from Lit/History/Geog).

RGS has a compulsory humanities subject which is not E Lit, Geo, History, so I dont think anyone is allowed to take 4 humanities subjects. But in any case, by the time your daughter is sec 3, things may change, too early to think about this now?

Please note that the line in blue is not correct as others have since pointed out. It's strongly discouraged by some schools, but not disallowed by MOE/SEAB. My other comments still stand.
MOE/SEAB does not allow any student to take both Geog and Hist in upper sec and JC. I guess they feel the workload is too heavy, or the overlap is too much? I'm not sure about upper sec now (too long ago), but in JC, \"triple humanities\" is possible, just not with both Geog and Hist. There are other humanities subjects offered like 3rd language (maybe this also applies to upper sec?), Language/Lit in MTs, Lang/Linguistics, China Studies, Art, Music, etc. The offerings may change from time to time, so you don't have to think about it so soon.

My daughter has some friends who took triple humanities at A level. As far as I know, those are the ones who were quite passionate about humanities and were fairly sure that they didn't want to pursue Sciences in their futures, or were quite sure they would do better in a humanities subject than a science subject. Some were humanities programme scholars. But quite a few weren't really so \"humanities\" as they took Econs (borderline humanities subject), with Maths as a contrasting subject.

This is not true, then and now. If both History and Geography are not allowed to be taken together, then this is a restriction imposed by the school, not by MOE or the exam board. From what I can see, RGS allows Geo + History.
