Hi, can any parent / senior students share the CCA audition/selection processes. What to expect for debate or international dance selections. Thanks.

For international dance selection last year, the girls had to follow and do some dance moves in a group. Each girl also had to do a short individual dance choreographed by herself. Not sure if the selection process remains the same this year.

Rgs seems to be making great effort in integrating the girls. No more gep classes or classes by dsa domain. No more pure higher chinese classes (all chinese, no racial integration). Girls from the same primary schools seem evenly distributed across the 12 classes (no more classes dominated by girls from same primary schools).

The school believes that all rgs girls are high abilities girls and all should be treated the same. I think this is a great move.

Heard that RI/ HCI and NYGH still keep their gep classes. In fact, NYGH’s gep classes has gotten even more elitist - it used to take in psle high scorers too, but no longer so this year. The 2 classes are strictly for gep girls only and the class size is small vs other classes.

Each school has its own method of class allocation. There are pros and cons in any system. I think many schools are mindful of this and do their best to develop each student's full potential

Hi all, I heard that RGS girls are not doing as well in A level in recent years, probably due to their new teaching approach - project works and self-learning. Some RGS girls failed most subjects in JC1, kind of worrying our choice now. I think teaching fundamental knowledge in classroom is still very important for this age, project works and self-learning approach should be limited at max 20-30% of time. If your children from RGS are in RI(JC) now, kindly share your view on this. Thank you
