:congrats:

St. Margaret's Secondary School has a very good PSLE T-Score COP for students from affiliated primary schools. Hope that the AMR (affiliate minimum requirement) under the new AL Score will continue to be attractive.

All the best to your gal.
Thank you 🕺 this is akin to divine intervention for us.

We were still living under the impression of the T Score COP system until you had pointed out about the new Achievement Level banding system.

Would the following understanding on how the COP works (under the T Score system), based on ranking and available vacancies be correct:
• assume say SMSS has 200 slots for the coming year
    •

• if the number of applicants exceeds 200, then students with or without AMR will be sorted and ranked with the affiliation offset, and the 200th ranked student's score + affiliation offset (if applicable) become the COP
    •

• if there is a tie for the last spot, then the student that has indicated SMSS as the higher priority will secure
    •
If this understanding is correct then COP is a market driven cutoff that adjusts each year based on the number of applicants, quality of applicants and available spots.

Also, I wonder if the affiliation offset is determined by targeting a certain affiliate percentage say y% of the new intake?

Perhaps someone can shed some light on this?

Hopefully, the relative offset will still apply well under the new system.
MOE said that secondary schools affiliated to primary schools will still have two sets of cut-off points next year to cater to affiliated and non-affiliated pupils.

It said that there will also be no change in how the affiliation priority works, with pupils still required to meet the minimum requirements of the secondary school and pick them as their first choice.
These are taken from Today Online,

Do note that MOE is working with the schools to determine the minimum requirements for affiliated students. If I am not wrong, it will be released by mid-2021.

        Hope it helps.

If you have any query, do feel free to post here.

Hi, my daughter is due to register in 2022 (born 2016). We are PR living within 1km. What do you think are the chances of getting in?

I was hoping to register as PV last year but they are no longer running PV scheme (so dissapointed). Any parents in the same shoes?

Which other schools have a good school culture and are easier to get in for PRs?

Quite risky for PR, need to see actual stats on last day of registration. If no chance then backup would be Marymount Convent at 2C, sure in.

My gut feel is no chance for PR from 2022. SMPS is expected to move back to their original address in 2022 after completion of their renovation. New and upgraded facilities, as well as removal of one big bugbear (far location of temp site), will surely see new / renew interest from SC.

Marymount Convent is also not a guaranteed for PR, especially for PR > 2km, as it is subjected to a PR quota for Phase 2C and 2CS. Notwithstanding, it’s a good recommendation if affiliation is not critical.

Thank you Davischew and floppy for your replies. Seems like SMPS might be out for us then, we will probably look into Marymount Convent and see if we can relocate to get a better chance.

Hi parents, anyone with their DDs in the holding site now? How is the commute and how is the place? The girls have been there for a year already… Thanks.
