Thank you for the helpful links. My son had problems at school because of bullying, so I had to transfer him to another school. And I’m glad I did it, because he made friends and he comes home from school happy, not sad-eyed like a few years ago when he was at his old school.

Always important to work with your child and the school to ensure that your child feels safe. Resources which may be useful: https://bullyfree.sg/

P5 cloze passage from 2019 Catholic High SA1 English paper. Touches on bullying, especially cyberbullying.

I agree with you. I heard this saying during my young adult days & it stuck with me: \"Hurt people hurt other people\".

Some of them may come from background with parents who also display such verbal/physical aggression at home...they learn from imitation and use this similar behaviour in school. Others may have some pent-up anger issues and don't know how to express themselves except to vent on other kids in school.

But regardless of the reason, it just takes a strong adult (parent or teacher) to take a stand that their bullying behaviour is wrong and should stop. Otherwise they have to face some consequences. Quite possibly they have never heard someone tell them that before, in such firm terms with follow-up.

                  Yet another story for today:

Bully: Hey kid, your nose is so ugly.
Kid: (decides to act blur) Huh what nose.
                  Bully (punches kid’s nose): That’s a nose!
Kid: Eh no, that’s a knuckle.
Bully: (punches again): Yeah, that’s a knuckle alright.
Kid: Yeah a very weak knuckle. (Walks away).

Really dunno why some kids got nothing better to do must pick on others.

According to research, Bullying is the activity of repeated, aggressive behavior intended to hurt another individual, physically, mentally, or emotionally. For children to avoid this, its better to practice the buddy system-be with someone at most times.

Encourage children to seek help from trusted adult or teachers is really important

Spoke to the parents of the bully (upper primary ) and instead they blamed the victim (lower primary ).

Case of Apple does not fall far from the tree.
