Does anyone know if they are strict about kids in car seat when driving in australia? Or is it like here, you are supposed to but not enforced? Do you have to bring your own car seats or can rent from car rental company?

Not sure about the car seat rules in Australia but I always insist on car seats for children. You can rent from car rental company. If I recall correctly, it's around AUD10 each day and if you are renting the car for quite a number of days, they might even waive the car seat rental

I think they are quite strict on car seats.
We rented a car seat for my 3 yr old, and a booster seat for my 4 yr old.
Didnt get one for my 7 yr old though.
Hb was stopped by police for exceeding the speed limit, the first time they checked whether Hb was drinking was, the car seats lor.

Australia has very strict rules on car seats. Rental of car seats are very affordable, but the seats are usually not comfortable. If my trip is longer than 5 days, or if we plan to do long distance driving, I always bring my own. Car seats n strollers does not count towards your luggage weight entitlement.

We brought our own boosters along for our last trip to Aust. I believe they are pretty strict about car seats. In any case, I insist that my kids be strapped in even in Singapore so more so for overseas where the speed limits are higher and we are unfamiliar with their roads.

Australia is strict on car seats, seat belts, and speed limits

Kena fined AUD$100 for exceeding the limit by 4km/hour, traveled at 54km/hr at the 50km zone, Melbourne

Qantas launched four new routes across its domestic network on 28 March 2022.

The new routes - Adelaide-Newcastle, Brisbane-Wagga Wagga, Darwin-Townsville and Darwin-Cairns - follow the launch of Qantas flights between Sydney and Uluru (Ayers Rock Airport) which took off on 27 March 2022.

Thrice weekly return flights will operate on Darwin-Townsville, Brisbane-Wagga and Adelaide-Newcastle with four weekly return flights on Darwin-Cairns, together adding more than 2,300 seats into Qantas’s domestic network each week.

Qantas has also recommenced flights between Sydney and Toowoomba with an improved, more business-friendly schedule offering double daily weekday flights and daily weekend flights.

Hi All, need advise here, we’re planning for a trip to Gold Coast, thinking to visit theme parks and taking hot air balloon. Is it doable without self drive?

Hi All, need advise here, we're planning for a trip to Gold Coast, thinking to visit theme parks and taking hot air balloon. Is it doable without self drive?
                        Short answer: yes.
                        Long answer: yes lor :rotflmao:

For the Theme Parks, they are accessible via:
                        1. Public transport
                        - There is public transport to both all 3 worlds (Sea World, Movie World and Dreamworld), you can use https://translink.com.au to help you plan
                        - The worlds' respective websites would probably have the 'getting there' by bus / train info as well
                        - However, you will need to take note of the time table (buses don't run as frequently as in Singapore) and depending on where you stay, may require a number of transfers to get you there

                        2. Transfers
                        - The easiest option without self drive is to engage a local transfer between Gold Coast hotels and the worlds
                        - Prices are also fairly reasonable (~$100 for 2A3C): https://www.klook.com/en-SG/activity/44736-return-shared-transfer-gold-coast-hotels-sea-world/?aid=1018, https://www.klook.com/en-SG/activity/44665-return-shared-transfer-gold-coast-hotels-movie-world/?aid=1018 and https://www.klook.com/en-SG/activity/44640-return-shared-transfer-gold-coast-hotels-dreamworld/?aid=1018

As for the hot air balloon ride:
                        - Don't need to drive at all, unless you fancy waking up at 3am or 4am in the morning
                        - Most operators, eg. https://www.klook.com/en-SG/activity/2477-hot-air-baloon-ride-gold-coast/?aid=1018, will do a hotel pick up super duper early in the morning
