      Just4Fun:
Need advise... when to use Make OF, and when to use Make FROM ?

Make of paper ? Make from paper ?
Make of cardboard ? Make from cardboard?
Make of straw ? Make from straw ?
imo, when giving the instructions, one would say \"make it out of xxx\", whereas when describing an already made thing, one would say, \"it is made of xxx\".

        Sarah:
        [Original Title: P2 English]

        Can anyone help with this:

Rearrange the following words into a sentence.

\"he missed because he late was the bus\"

Answer 1 : He missed the bus because he was late.
Answer 2 : He was late because he missed the bus.

Which answer is correct and why?
        Thank you.[/i]
If you choose answer 1 , you are saying that he missed the bus because he was late.

If you choose answer 2 , you are saying that he was late because he missed the bus.

Let me rephrase the answers above in another way

Answer 1 : He was late, so he missed the bus
Answer 2 : He missed the bus, therefore he was late.

You can't be saying that \"The express bus went because I was late.\"
You should be saying \"I was late as the express bus went before i reached the bus stop\"

Sarah, I think both are grammatically correct, they just express different situations.

Hello to all.....I am now getting concern about DD's progess with English....her school uses Stellar approach, no structured lessons, and with no exams in school. Previously, the worksheets brought back were mostly comprehension, not much on grammar.

and today, there are 4 pages for grammar and I have a great shock when she gave the below answers: :!:
            All the children wears
            The leader wear
            They goes

I think she is confused between plural nouns with the verb, because, she was trying to explain to me that All the children ->plural so followed by plural verb..
Anyone can teach me how to explain to her? :?:

When I asked her how teacher explained in school, she was unable to answer :?

At rate she is going, I am worried that i might have to send her to tuition class, which i am trying to avoid

The answer. ! (exclamation mark). There should be a 'close inverted' comma at the end of Swim for your lives!\"

It is either full stop or exclamation mark. Most students will put full stop. However, I think it should be exclamation mark - a shout in fear, \"The shark is coming!\"
