May I know what is ESIP?

      ____________________________________________________________
Edusave Scholarships for Integrated Programme Schools (ESIP)

Pupils enrolled in / admitted into the IP in an IS at Secondary Three will be invited by the school to apply for the scholarship at the end of their Secondary Two studies. The tenure of the scholarship is 4 years, up to the final year of the IP. The scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the scholarship.

      Eligibility
      - Applicants must be Singapore citizens and are NOT recipients of the EESIS.

      Award Quantum
The ESIP award quantum for pupils admitted into Secondary Three from 2010 onwards is $2,400, or the annual school fees charged by the IS less the annual amount of school and standard miscellaneous fees paid by pupils in government / government-aided schools, whichever is lower.

      ___________________________________________________________

Hi snowz, I got the description above from somewhere (you can also google for ESIP in moe website, here is some info http://www.moe.gov.sg/initiatives/edusave/funds-grants-awards/). It is for students who enrol into IP school in year 3, or are already in independent school in year 1 & 2 but not recipient of EESIS.

Unlike the EESIS which is automatically granted to PSLE students who enrol in independent schools and meet the cut-off point, students must apply for ESIP at the independent school sometime at the end of year 2, and the test is in Jan the following year. The test is administered by MOE and students are tested on Maths and English.

Apparently many parents are aware of EESIS but not ESIP.

Yes, understand that EESIS is automatically granted to PSLE students who enrol in independent achools and meet the COP. How about those enrol in non IP independent schools, does that mean the students will 'lose' 2 years of school fee? How about in Yr5 & Yr6?

        phankao,

Do you know whether NJC is undergoing any reno, reconstruction,...etc for their campus. I heard they only build boarding,.. Will they be doing like RV to have a totally brand new campus in future?
Yes, they are going through renovations now. I believe they will upgrade most of the campus as the campus is a bit old. 😄

NJC is undergoing renovations for indoor sports hall, junior high library (current one is going to be used for senior high) and a blackbox. The building of the bridge connecting the school and boarding school is complete. Other renovations that were done this year such as upgrading the general office are complete.

In Sec 1, NJCians attend drama lessons and will perform (as a class) when they reach Sec 2. This will help to facilitate the drama program.

this poll is only applicable for boys, and there are very few boys going to NJC in recent years.

Its becoming like a girls’ school if not for the JC intakes.

I went to HCI Open House last year. Doubt it is \"newer\" than NJC. Some rooms had a dusty smell and I got very bad skin rash after I went home.

Academic success at HCI is proven time and again. No question abt it.

BUT I could not forget this incident: A HCI student punching a bus driver when his girlfriend used an expired student pass and the bus driver \"demanded\" her to surrender the pass.

And the most recent bad press: a MOE scholarship holder formerly from Chinese High, then HCI. One bad apple among the huge cohort, yes. Maybe I too narrow minded.

                    I still prefer NJC.

Recently I was on a bus, sitting close to 2 HCI senior high boys. Overhead their conversation which is peppered with EL and CL (very S’porean style of speaking) on selecting Ivy League overseas uni. One of the boys told the other one he was born in Finland and his parents finally chose S’pore to raise him. Apparently his parents had been to many countries and found S’pore the most suitable one.

                        So far so good right?

Then both said they would be going home once the uni schooling is finished. Where do u think their HOME is?

                        Not S’pore. CHINA.

What do you think of this conversation?

My shallow view: sch not doing enough to encourage S’pore national identity.
