Wonder if it is ok to carry on attending swimming lessons? Parents, will you stop your children’s swimming lessons temporarily? The public pools are usually very crowded during weekends. Wonder if there is increase risk of getting the flu bug there.

I’m not sure but I’ve since tried to avoid crowded places such as swimming pools and playgrounds, esp those huge indoor playgrounds…but quite difficult to avoid shopping on weekends (crowded places and enclosed somemore).

Hmm…actually, if a child is not feeling well (coughing, running nose etc) or having fever, I guess most parents wldn’t let them go swimming. Maybe it cld be quite safe after all?..

My children’s swimming classes were cancelled over the weekend… so I think better to be safe than subsequently inconvenience…

I am suspending mine for a month. She is asthmatic, better safe than sorry.

I was once told that chlorine in the water would have made it difficult for the virus to survive. Not sure if this is true. Anyone with medical background to advise?

same here… heard that chlorine ‘kills’ the bacteria and germs, not sure whether that is really true? Last week’s swim class was totally empty, except for the instructor. Only I am stupid enough to bring my son there.

                  Hi,
Does your kid's swimming instructor allow you to suspend lessons or do you still have to pay for the lessons?

I am suspending my kid’s swimming lessons too. Not sure that enough is known about the virus, so maybe chlorine will or will not kill it, better safe than sorry.

Then again, this is around for some time. So, how long can we sustain this?

A side question. What preventive measures are your childrens’ schools taking to avoid spread of H1N1 within the school compound.

In my daughter’s school, they set up a 2nd "canteen", to separate the students during recess. And also stagger the recess time, so that not all the students are queuing at the foodstalls at the same time.

How about enrichment class? Will you keep yoiur child away from it for at least 7 days? Heard one popular enrichment centre has two confirm cases during the last week of school holiday.
