All About Church/Clan/Society Membership

Piggymum:
Thank you piggymum for the information. We will be moving within 1 km to the school just in case 2B is out. At least we can try for 2c <1km.Dear KS2 and mamamiya,
SHHK only has the meeting twice a year. The first one this year was held in Feb (I think) so the next one will be later part of this year (should be around Sep or Oct). After their meeting, a letter of notification will be sent to you.
However it looks looks like you will only be members for less than a year before the P1 registration. If the no. of applicants to your target school is very high then it's going to be tricky since Iheard the only consideration point is on membership tenure.
All the best. -
Hi all,
Does any knows that for Pei HwaPri Sch …any church affiliation …? -
I am staying between 1km-2km from Nan Chiau Primary. My son will be in P1 in 2011. Just took the PV form. I know another alternative is to register as a member of SHHK. But need 2 existing members to support application, also no guarantee will be in Pahse 2B 'cos they say if demand exceeds supply, they’ll go by the length of membership.
Can anyone advise/share which is a better route - PV/join RC/SHHK?
Do all 3 really have same priority in 2B?
Anyone from SHHK can support my application to be a member of SHHK?
Wah, really stressed by all these Pri1 regn thingy! -
hi gealal,
3 routes to the same place - no better no worse. Doing PV restricts you to that school; doing RC restricts to neighbourhood (do check if the RC is in the correct zone); joining SHHK restricts you to the schools under their umbrella.
Since your kid will be in P1 come 2011, you’ll have to submit application in 2010. Counting back, SHHK may not be guaranteed cos length of time you are a member will be considered if there are too many applicants for a particular school. -

Yes, from Presbyterian Churches. Check with your pastor. He/she should be able to advise you. For that, any interested parent will have to submit kid's name to Pastor prior ro registration.Hi all,

Does one need to be a hokkien to join Hokkien Association???
I am finding it strange as I realised that friends who join for the sake of registration are all non-Hokkien. -

It makes me wonder - if everyone were to go through such route, wouldn't we be back to square one? We are merely bringing forward the phase that needs balloting. :?Does one need to be a hokkien to join Hokkien Association???

to be a member of SHHK one has to be a hokkien. and to provide BC to verify this.

they verify your birthcert before accepting your application.
Just 1 parent needs to be hokkien, so that may explain why non-Hokkien parents are going via that route.
