All About Full-Time Maids

jtoh:
Maids who have the intention of stealing don't keep stolen items in their posession. They pass it off to the neighbours' maids for safekeeping. They pass things through windows, through facing kitchens, back doors etc. So don't think that even if you don't let your maid out of the house she has no way of passing items around.
my fren's maid can \"communicate\" with her neighbour's maid by throwing paper message via kitchen window.. clever right ? my fren eventually found out all the paper messages, and since then she lock the window when she went out. -

wah liao like that also can
Can.micollh:

And they are ok with these kinda stuff?
The employers? They're not at home so they don't know. Or maybe they don't mind.
Some of these angmo wives don't stay at home. So the house is pretty much left to the maids to take care of the kids. I see maids bringing angmo kids to the swimming pool and read newspapers and chat while their charges are playing in the water.jtoh:

Some-more most of the AngMo wives are SAHM dunno how they tahan them when they cannot tahan FTWM
And a favourite with the maids is when the families have dogs. Twice a day they take the dogs out for a 'walk'. But actually the maids just gather at one place and chit-chat while the poor dogs have nowhere to go. Or they dutifully walk the dog but are on the handphone the whole time. -

According to MOM Law, we are suppose to provide our helper all the toiletries but usually I will buy her the cheapest and she is not allow to choose.
In fact I don't forbid my helper to chit chat with other helpers however I will keep warning her not to get influence by them. Recently I just scolded her for listening too much to her \"friends\" advised and ended up she nearly lose her job. I also kept emphasizing to her that her 'rice bowl' are much more important than her 'friends'. She keep nodding her head and reply \"YES! YES! but wonder did she bear it in mind. -
Yes, they will always listen to their ‘friends’. And some of these ‘friends’ are just out to stir trouble by giving wrong advice.

Micollh, LKVM, same here. My maid has no off-days too but she wants to hold cash to buy her own toiletries (ex-SG so she is quite street-smart one while I am the newbie employer). I have worked out a pay schedule for her and asked her to indicate the money she hold at hand so any extra money if found in her possession would be of suspicious sources. She has asked me to help her open a bank account even before she turned 1 mth in the job.
Same boat here - my maid sleeps peacefully through the night oftentimes >8 hrs while I still have to get up to make night feed for my boy even though he is turning 4yrs this year. Our grand plan of letting my boy share room with the maid when the baby arrives does not seem to fall in place. I thought by getting a younger maid she could bond with my boy better but it does not seem to be the case.
Can I ask her to eat faster ? We usually let her buy her own food first and finish up earlier so that she could feed my boy instead of letting her food turn cold. However, she ends up finishing only when we finishes ours plus feeding our boy. Feeling a bit frustrated. -

Why not let her eat after you? You can't ask someone to eat faster, maybe she is just a very slow eater.Micollh, LKVM, same here. I would be careful about asking her to tell you how much money she has on hand - it's an invasion of her privacy. Would you like it if your boss asked you that kind of question? We all have worries about what they are doing but we need to remember that they are human beings. How do you think it makes them feel? -

u must be stern to her, make her know who is the boss. else she will climb on ur head since she is more experience. im not saying to scold or wat, but make sure ur instruction is carried out properly lor.Micollh, LKVM, same here. in ur case, i think should ask her eat later or jst tell her, quickly eat , im waiting for u to feed my boy, if even telling this she din \"get-it\" or pretend dun get it. then u have to get her to do the work first like feed ur boy then only have her meal. -

The more I read you guys comments the more I get worried......This new myanmar maid I get, work with them 3 mths already, sent back because ANG MO employer complaint her English poor, can't understand them, and she had a bro work in S'pore, called her and employer not happy so sent her back agent. Agent told me that she will arrange a meeting for me to meet her bro, and let her bro not to worry her and let her work properly, and agent told her bro cannot disturb her as she is different from them, maid can't go out like them. I talked to this girl, and know she came from very far away from City, and she look very Guai type. The most impt is, she can speak English. I always not at hm, if the English can't communicate, I may face more problem. Now just hope that this one not influence too much by others as she just in S'pore for 3 mths only......
