I'm stay CCK and my next choice will be Yew Tee Primary within 1km. I'm actually prefer a convent school for my gal and this is the nearest and only hope and now by looking at the statistics, can forget it.

Have you thot of St Anthony's at Bukit Batok. Its a convent and my friends who have their kids there say its good.

Yes, like what rainbowmom said St Anthony is a mixed school. I don't think there is any convent school around west area. Well, shall see what is the competition  next week though I know chances is super slim šŸ™

        Hi Tri-mum,

you may want to try CHIJ (Kellock) if you do not mind the distance.
I stayed in the West and still i register my girl there.

Looking at the intake this year, you might get a chance in CHIJ(Kellock)

Oh, that's quite far. What time is the school bus pick up for your girl?
Actually I don't want to waste too much time on travelling. If I can't get into CHIJ LQOP then I will go straight to neigbourhood school.

Hi, I heard some schools often arrange remedial class even for P1 and one of my ex-colleague told me her son (p1) needs to stay back after school and the school bus does not make additional trip to ferry these children who stay back for CCA/remedial class unless they pay almost double of the fee :? .

Anyone from CHIJ LQOP? I understand that the school bus will arrange with the school to pick up children at 4pm for those who stay back for activities but any idea whether the school will make the children stay beyond the last school bus pick up?

only CHIJ Toa Payoh is balloting ...

only for those who live more than 2km away. šŸ™

Really? Does anyone know the breakdown of applicants' distance? I am hoping to get in without balloting while staying within 1-2km.

How good is this CHIJ (Kellock) if comparew with Radin Mas? I heard that CHIJ (Kellock) does not accept any PV's. Generally I think 1-2Km range should be able to enter at Phase 2C.

I thought balloting is for those within 1km for Phrase 2C. As it is for Phrase 2B, balloting has been ongoing for the past years for less than 2km. So if you are living outing 1km under Phrase 2C, it is very unlikely you'll even get a chance.

Hi all, I am new to the forum but I read with interest all the discussions on IJ sch. My daughter is currently studying in OLQP, P2. Let me share with you my experience. šŸ˜„

OLQP was not my 1st choice as I have a son (born 2003) and wld want them to study in the same sch; logistically more convenient. Unfortunately, I was late in offering my PV service for Rulang (my choice sch as I live in JE). Being a KS mum, I only want to put my children in schs that have good academic track record.

Since Rulang is out, the next choice wld be OLQP (my alma mater). OLQP has never been strong in the academics. So, last yr till early this yr, I had been trying to persuade my dd to transfer to Rulang (then ds can confirm a place). But no matter how I try to persuade her or use other means to lure her, she will not budge. She just loves the sch!

Everyday, I see her going to sch and coming back happy. Everytime during the term break, she wld look fwd to going back to sch to be with her friends.

I will not say the sch is perfect. In fact, compared to many 'brand' schs, it still has lots of catching up to do; academically that is. Teachers wise, there are good and bad (as in top schs). But, the whole school experience is just perfect for my gal. She really does have fantastic friends and in her own words, she said that there're no bullies in sch. šŸ˜„

She has a childhood friend (same age) in RGPS and she has heard horrendous stories of the girls' behaviour there from her friend.

So now, I never ask her to transfer anywhere anymore cos I know she is in the right environment and will have many happy and fantastic memories of her pri sch when she grows up; something no amt of As can measure up.

                        Dear Lock,

I share the exactly same feeling as you. My gal is also in P2. I also feel that OLQP is not strong academically but as I always think this is not an issue, there are many ways to make sure our gal can excel if they do have the calibre. I also think there are \"good\" and \"bad\" teachers. However, I have full praise of the girls there. Generally, they are kind and nice and they make the school a superb environment to be in, a reason which makes my gal always wants to go to school....

The dilenma for many parents being: What should be the most important criteria for choosing a school for your children?

To me, they have to be in an environment for at least 5 hrs a day. Most impt, I want my child to be happy. They must feel happy going to school and come back feeling happy as well. My gal calls me at 2.00p.m (while I am at work) almost everyday to report the things happening in school. I truely believe she is enjoying her school life.
