My friend's son is in gep, a gold awardee had invited to NUSH and was told the school fee will be waived. Still waiting for RI's. He did not apply HCI. The mother said the geps easily get into HCI cause most of the classmates had confirmed letter. These geps are suppose to be good in maths. HCI valued most are geps as what I observed.

Congrats to ur friend! Does NUSH waive fee for all SMOPS awardees? So which does he (or mother) prefer, NUSH or RI?

He is in the Little Einteein Club in NUSH, I think he prefer RI. A very smart boy without any maths training since young, but was spotted in the school.

Is it ok to reveal which primary school?

I guess that's why NUS High is so keen to have tea sessions and waive school fees for the brightest. Because many of them will prefer RI over NUSH.

It really doen’t matter which primary, it is the same as you are from gep. Honestly some geps are really bright, thats why all the school put them in the 1st priority.

I don't think NUSH will waive the school fees. If it is the case of EESIS scholarship, it is awarded (by MOE, not the sec school!!) to almost all primary GEP students, as long as they attend an independent sec school. It is not total fee waiver, only up to $200 per month. That means, if the fees is $300 per month, the GEP student has to pay the difference of $100 per month. The same scholarship is also awarded to non-GEP students who get a certain PSLE score (e.g. 263 or 265, depending the performance of students in that year).

I have heard of many students who choose HCI or ACS(I) or NUSH over RI too. It really depends on the preference of the students and the parents.

In the briefing session given by HCI, there were over a thousand applicants. 225 boys were given confirmed offer, while 150 were in waiting list. Just to point out "not all are geps", my son’s 5 friends (all from main stream) got confirmed offer.

Hi i30, are the 5 mainstream SMOPS plat, gold or silver? or sport talent? or by school result?
