All About Choosing Piano Schools And Teachers
Hi EN,
Did you call up Yamaha to check? One pre-requisite I know is that he must be at least 6 years old. If he is very good in his hearing, I don't see why they would not accept if he does well at the audition.
I might want to approach his current teacher for opinion. He is attending Yamaha Piano School for Children. Beside composing, there are other aspects that I would like to touch on with the teacher. My only problem is that the teacher comes to class just in time to teach and by the end of the lesson, she has overrun by 2-3 minutes and she will be teaching another class. I wonder how can I spend 5 minutes with her without appearing inconsiderate. -
Hi En,
You can leave a message with the reception requesting the teacher to call you. That’s what I did when I was contemplating to change my son’s JMC class previously. -
Hi chamonix. Was away hence the late reply. Thanks for the advise.

Hi Pianojazzy
My 5yrs old boy has been learning piano for about 8mths but he is not able to remember the notes and fundamental is very weak. Furthermore, its seem like he has started to lose his interest and we have to force him to practice at home. We have to stop the class as we are not able to see the progress and are not sure what is the cause of him losing interest. Is there any way we can motivate him? Is there any good teacher to recommend? -
Hi Mickey,
The most important thing to do now is to strengthen his foundation. He may be despaired that he cannot read notes properly and has to spend a lot of time figuring out the notes to practise the piece properly.
Is he in a group lesson or 1-1? -

Icic, maybe you would like to check with his teacher how come his foundation is not strong, is there anyway the teacher can help him? Or discuss with the admin if they can change another teacher etc.

keyboard and piano are different touching
if parents willing to play long term in piano (or have exam), better start from piano.
keyboard is very soft touching will make the student's hand spoilt
play piano, need strong hand (not power from body) but power from han only.
some of my student, practise with keyboard. Than after a week, they never practise anymore. Because for (young children) them, they already can feel and recognize keyboard is different sound and different length from piano
Buy piano still can sell (have value), buy keyboard just can sell it at karong goni man.
GOOD LUCK
