Hi there, does anyone feels that should the violin teacher requires you to go to their place for lessons, it shows that the teacher is very good as he or she need not go all over the place to teach?? That's what i heard fm some of my frens. They mentioned that it is usually the case if the teacher is good. Only teachers who are lacked of students will seek out!

Anyway, I still intend to look for a violin teacher who will be able to come by my place. Any recommendations, pls pm me? Thanks a lot.
Altho' I must say I do know some reasonably good piano teachers who really don't mind going to the students' places to teach. Often, it could be bc their own house is not that conducive to frequent teaching.

I've not ever heard the same of violin teachers though - generally violin teachers who go to students' places to teach are quite new to teaching.

Isn't this what you should ask the teacher instead? I generally take the teacher's advice.

Yup, I am amazed on how many people actually ask this kind of questions on net. In any case, no students should ever skip any grade. Can skip exams, but the requirements for each grade must be completed first. Skipping grades result in weak foundations and introduce massive difficulty spike in learning for the students.

Hi can anyone advice which will be best to start off violin for my 5yr old gal?

She does not have any musical background and this will be her first attempt with a music instrument. She did express interest in violin often so wonder should I just go ahead with a 1:1.

Can anyone recommend a good Suzuki violin teacher that does 1:1 teaching?
I’m staying in bishan. Thank you

                  Hi,

i would like to find out the practice of private teachers and music schools, do they provide a make-up lesson if a public hol happens to fall on a lesson day? or do you pay if there is no lesson because of P.H.?

my DD’s school charges full mth’s school fees and there is no make up lesson. In Nov, one P.H. happens to fall on a Sunday (lesson day), the school advised that we’ll still need to pay full mth’s fee for 3 lessons; and in Dec, there is supposedly 1 school hol ( 1 paid sch hol in Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec) plus another P.H. also on a Sun, we will pay one mth’s fee for 2 lessons! Is that reasonable? and is that the norm or mkt practice?

                  Thanks.
