Travel: Korea - General

Hi,
Last minute decide to go to Korea in December. Checked with ASA, Hong Thai and CTC. Limited seats available now. As we have 9 of us travelling, make it more difficult.
In fact, ASA Seoul + Jeju already full. So left with only 6 days Seoul.
Am considering DIY, anyone can recommend more local tour guide? I am afraid they are fully booked already now, so will appreciate if I have more to contact. -
Hi,
U might want to try Genting Holidays? -

I believe they can Customize your tour...no need to follow our Local Singapore Tour....
Visited Korea several years ago , got all the information through their Tourist website...
Last time , they have freelance tour guide....no need to pay fees...but you are responsible for their transport/meals/entrance fees to attraction...
Normally these Freelance Tour Guides are students...on vacation...who wants to learn English or Chinese....
But the catch is that all sightseeing is by Local Transport, buses, MRT, taxis...
It was quite fun....unlike following Local tour....
We always leave the hotel after 9am...to avoid office crowd....
Now most important is to get the Flight you need to arrive in Seoul....
Happy planning... :xedfingers: -
Anyone tried Korea tour package with PriceBreakers yet ?

Hi,
I am planning a F&E trip to Korea in December. I would like to know where are the recommended places to go for food eg. Korean Ginseng chicken soup, barbeque food etc. Can someone share with me your experiences? Thank you.

Hi
Iād like to go on a 6D free and easy to Korea in early Dec 2011. Main objective is to bring 10-yo boy to try out the ski resort (for say, 2N stay). Plan to go direct to ski resort, then to Seoul as base for shopping, and may be day trips from Seoul.
Any ski resort / day trips to recommend?

anyone knows where to get cheap and nice winter wear besides Cold Wear and Winter Time?

Korea is extremely cold in December - I suggest you get your cold medication and flu jab before going. There are some great undergroung shopping place such as the Coex Centre in Kangnam - its so huge you can spend the whole day there and its underground which means its heated. Other plce is Dongdaemum - covered pasar malam.
For outdoor shopping activities - I suggest Namdaemun - like our Pasar Malam on a larger scale. Try their Pojang Macha (Tent Food) - its quite and expereince if you can take the cold.
There are day trips for ski - but you may be better off staying the night or two. For merely snow experience - you may want to try Everland Park - they have some snow tubing and its a theme park.
For accomodation with families - you may want to try the Fraser Suites in Seoul - 3 bedrooms for about S$400.
Good luck -
Hi Insider
Saw your recommendation of a local guide in Korea. We are going this Dec and need to engage a driver to drive us to Yong Pyong and back to Seoul a few days later. Would he be willing to do that? What is the best way to get in touch with him? Email or call?
TIA to your feedback.
