Can I ask how did your boys fare in English’s Daily Work and ERP?

Mine failed ERP and just touched the passing for Daily Work. This is really amazing as these are usually mark pullers since ERP is a matter of reading, followup with telling the teacher about the content of the book and they get the marks. But then again, DS told me teacher gave them the assigned book 2 days before the next class is due to read it, so it was taken away by the next class’ teacher after 2 days. According to the ERP schedule, each class is given 3 weeks to complete the book. DS’ class was supposed to receive the book before the March one week holiday, which they did not. Fail Vs last year’s A1 for ERP…

As long as not J! But we should monitor Lit closely in the meantime on hw and etc... I'm gonna be asking DS what they do in J's class every Lit day! She's retiring in Aug.

                Dear parents,

Would appreciate if any of the parents can help me with a few queries. My son is doing PSLE this yr. His T-score is likely to be in the 230+ range. Our MT is Tamil but my son is exempted due to medical reasons. I was wondering if this would enable him to apply to Maris Stella - or it would only be for those who offer CL. I also wanted to know - if he were to apply - for subjects other than CL - would there be a tendency for teachers to use Chinese - sorry - do not mean to sound dumb or offensive, I know in Singapore we promote bilingualism - just a query, considering it is a SAP school - if there is a tendency for the teachers also to be highly geared towards Mandarin - sometimes using our MT is easier. I am just worried if he would miss out on some things in lessons, that’s all - otherwise, I would very much welcome him learning about the Chinese culture that a SAP school atmosphere promotes.

I am very interested in this school because of the Mac Book based learning programme. How do you find it benefitting your child? My son is very keen to learn computer programming and explore IT based courses? Would this Macbook program help him develop that aspect in Maris Stella.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am considering sending my son to MSHS next year but from the posts here, it appears that standards are rather high and teachers are not very helpful. I am not sure if my son will be able to cope. Can some parents please advise?

You are spot on regarding the high standards (due to students) and unhelpful teachers. Of course, it is also an all-boys sch, so in my humble opinion, bullying, if it does happen, gets a bit worse.

The school physical facilities leave much to be desired. Could it be linked to the fact that funds raised for the sch did not end up enhancing the sch facilities (if you know what I am referring to)? I don’t know. You can visit the premises and decide on your own.
But that’s a small matter. To me, the greatest asset in the school is the teaching staff.
If you and your son can tolerate some of these problems, then the school is an option to consider.

Hi, since its a SAP school the only MT is Chinese. If your son were to take Tamil he would have to take lessons outside of school.
