I was from St. Nicks, spent 11 years there, and was a Roman Catholic by birth. I am thus well aware of the way Catholic schools operate. 🙂 I think it is a strong personal and family preference to have both our boys attend a Protestant school aligned to our beliefs/ theology. ^^

My parents put me in St Nicks due to their religious beliefs. We are looking to putting our offsprings into ACS if possible for the same reason. Thanks for helping to clarify issues on religion. I am sure the other mummies and daddies will find it helpful. 😄

Our reasons again 1) Religious affliction/ values, 2) Chess team, 3) Non- SAP, 4) kid's strong personal preference for the school, 5) School culture being what our son can relate to and feel comfortable in, 6) All boys school. 🙂

          Hi all,

Finally I need to WAKE up for my honeymoon for DS studies and play a supportive role to DS's education.

Beside distance from home as mentioned, what about the past PSLE results? I realised that not all GEP sch post their past PSLE results. Also how many of the GEP sch their students are accepted, it would indirectly affecting our chances to the sch right?
From the earlier posts, these are what was mentioned
          NYPS - 34,
          SHPS - 10,

Can other parents from the other GEP sch advice?
          MTIA.
It should be 12 from SHPS...

from what I know, if you are fixed on a particular school, just put in that school as first choice. And leave all the rest blank (ie 2nd , 3rd choice) and they will post you to the school of your choice. However if you list more than one choice, they tend to post to school that is nearest to your home with vacancy, even if thats your 3rd choice. If not happy with posting can appeal, and likely they will give it to you.

What if you request for a school of your choice but rejected, can we withdraw from GEP totally ?

Friend put NYPS as her first and only choice even though she lived far away. They sent her kid to the GEP school nearest her home bec NYPS was over-subscribed.

So can she still opt out if can't get it ? Bcos I really have problem in putting my DS in another school ... Can we opt out if posted to another school ? If we can't get the school that we want, we rather stay in his current school which is just as good.

Why withdraw?!..... All gep centers teach the same program and all geppers take the same common tests and exam .... So if the reason to put your kid into gep is to let the program stretch him and nurture him... Then not getting your first choice gep school shouldn't deter your kid from entering gep .... Jmo .....
