Hi my DS got 244.. He's from SJIJ and is affiliated to SJI.. But we prefer ACSI WITH COP of 245 based on last year's intake.should I take the risk putting ACSI as first choice and what do u think my chances are ?
And what do you think my chances will be if I put SJI as my 2nd choice ? What would you do if you were in my place ?
Sorry for so many questions... I'm lost ....

Hi Elpis
You can try appeal ACSI, 1point likely will go through. -
Since successful placement will only be known on 21 Dec, that means appeal will be from 22 Dec onwards? But we are expected to report to assigned school the next day after announcement, that is on 22 Dec.

You report to the school you have been posted to on the 22 Dec. Only when you receive the results of your appeal do you need to go to the appeal school to pick up the transfer form, which you'll need to bring back to your posted school to get yourself released, then bring back to your appeal school to be admitted.

Elpis:
The COP for SJI (non-affiliates) last year was 241. But I expect the COP for SJI to go up this year because they are offering the IP route for their 2014 batch of Sec 3s (your batch). By putting SJI as your second choice you've given up your affiliate status.Hi my DS got 244.. He's from SJIJ and is affiliated to SJI.. ACSI's COP of 245 last year I feel is exceptionally low. Their COP for previous years was >250 and I expect this year's COP to be higher than 245.
So given that, I don't think you'll get posted to ACSI and your posting to SJI is tricky too. If you're very keen on ACSI, go ahead and put ACSI, SJI and a very comfortable 3rd choice bec there's a chance you'll be posted to your 3rd choice. The other alternative is to take the safe route and put SJI as your first choice. You'll definitely get in to SJI. -
As we are overseas around Dec 22, I need to find out how the appeal process works so that my proxy can get the paperwork done properly. Called 2 schools but given conflicting answers. Here is my understanding and hope parents here can confirm if it is correct.
1) Dec 22 report to posted school. Then go back to the school I wish to appeal submit form. Not necessary must be on Dec 22, can go on Dec 23 too to appeal.
- School A tells me to submit appeal form at posted school
- School B tells me must go back to the school I wish to appeal to submit form.
2) When submitting the appeal form, include these documents: P5/P6 result slip; achievements; certificates; photocopies of parents NRIC, childβs birth cert, proxy NRIC.
Thanks for your advice. -

I have checked with MOE and they say we need to go back to the school we intend to appeal to submit appeal form. My understanding is that different schools have different appeal procedure/cut off date. Thus, it is better to check with the schools that you intend to appeal to. For some schools, you can submit appeal form now while there are some schools whereby the appeal form is only available after S1 posting results is out.As we are overseas around Dec 22, I need to find out how the appeal process works so that my proxy can get the paperwork done properly. May i know how did u transfer to diff sec sch in the end? Did u write an appeal letter? Pls help thanks so much.
Congrats to you. Your DS hard work paid off !!skyhigh_18:
just to share my experienec.. my son did not do well last year, the sec sch we selected cut-off points went up 3 points.
so we appeal... the school respond 'they are full' vancancy will depend on whether anyone choose to leave the sch. This is what i have done
1) Ask MP to write appeal letter to the principle.
2) Write another personal appeal letter to sch.
3) Call and talk to the person in charge
4) Call MOE to check on what the sch said is correct or not. (Its confirm, the sch corhort is set by MOE, the sch cannot increase the class size)
But i heard IP program sch is different...not too sure abt that.
So we waited, end result..no one left the sch. so we have to settled for 2nd choice. Buy uniform, text etc last min. Told my son to work harder in sec 1. During sec 1 he scored top 10% of the whole cohort in tat sch and we successfully transfer him to another sec. That is another painful exercise. Luck sometimes have to play a part. :celebrate: -
How many schools can we appeal?
-
Just take note that some schools will require you to submit the Sec 1 sch selection printout as they want to see that you put the sch as 1st choice when you appeal to them. Some of my frens have encountered that and they informed me.
