I think different kinddies have different approaches bah...? I think the kinddies should pace themselves appropriately and not stress the kids out unnecessarily. In the first half of P1, the emphasis is on reading, listening and speaking, and not so much on writing yet. Too much 'difficult' writing in Kinddy level might just kill the kids' interest in learning the language, IMO.

and i thought his words are already difficult (ie 衣，牛，羊 etc)
ds1 did not even have tingxie in preschool. :roll: -

omg, i think the words are tough.
My K2 boy cham liao. Probably will struggle with tingxie when he's in P1 next year. He's in a CC that doesn't give any homework and doesn't believe in tingxie or spelling.
My child also had no spelling and tingxie. After 3 years in primary school and on her 4th now....I would conclude that every child is different. Some would need this kind of boosting at preschool and some would not need. It is really the parents who need to know necessary or not and choose the right preschool.
Only in hindsight for myself, I think I have chosen the right one for my child without the academic rigors type....at least she had lots of fun in preschool days with birthday party celebrations every month!
I think for parents with children going to SAP school, they may need to beef up Chinese more so some of these Chinese standard in preschool is very high. -
Actually 听写 is not difficult to learn if you understand/ follow the strokes forming the words and knowing how to read the words.
My kids’ CC teach my kids to recognise chinese characters way back from PG to K1, they only introduce HYPY in K2 to prep for P1.
My DD1, now in K2, has no problem learning her 听写, words like :耳朵，
新年，想， 送，给，唱歌, etc…
She just need to practise the words - 1 page on her jotter book and she can write the characters already. -

Probably each child will be strong in certain area. Some very good in Chinese, some in English and some in Maths at young age
My DD1, now in K2, has no problem learning her 听写, words like :耳朵，
新年，想， 送，给，唱歌, etc.....
She just need to practise the words - 1 page on her jotter book and she can write the characters already. -

Primary school now are tougher than when we were there. -
Agree that every child is different and strong in different areas. For my boy, he has a strong interest in Chinese so the ‘tougher’ curriculum in his kinddy is good for him and helping him develop his interest in the language. Although I see some kids might struggle more, like my DD. I had to try and make it interesting for her (like helping her to remember the words through drawings) and help her learn just one character a day when she was in K2!
