Moreover, no one is so garang to take both Geog and Hist as their double humanities.....
since there isnt such a class in yr 3.

Eventually, when comes to yr5, many of them would drop both Geog and Hist and opt for Econs.....

      ....

I am not sure about secondary school curriculum. I always thought that double sciences and double humanities are the most common subject combinations in sec3/4. It is true in the past and it should even be more so these days since Medicine Faculty has done away with the requirement for H2 biology (which was a prerequisite in the past).

Moreover, isn't there English and Chinese literatures (or something similar). And bicultural students etc....

There isnt a class offerring both E Lit and C Lit.....
Even bicultural students dont wanna to take both Lit as double humanitites....

        Augmum,

Just curious, is Econs offered as a humanities subject in year 3/4 or only at year 5/6? I heard of some schools offering Econs at year 3/4 and thought this is a very route - it actually allows the students exposure to an A Level subject earlier to understand and grasp it over a 4 years period instead of 2 years period.

No, no Econs offers in yr3/4.....
Btw, which schs offers Econs in yr 3/4, not that few IP schs which i know of...

There is a Financial Literacy course in yr 3 and yr 4
whereby the pupils are exposed to management of money and money related matters.....

I read it from KSP forum. A parent asked about taking up Econs in Sec 3/4. Heehee......can't remember which thread but it is recent past few days post šŸ˜‰

Personally I like it as I think Econs is a useful subject for the kids.

What I meant was that Geog/Hist isn't the only double humanities combination?

Surely, bicultural students may take, for example, geog and chinese literature?

              Pen88n, thks for the link....
Yes, i also ever read abt parents talking abt schs offering Econs in yr3/4 but which are the specific schs, i am unaware of ......
Perhaps becos of resources problems, ( juz my guess) even the few IP schs do not have this option for yr 3 and 4.
That's why DHS's Financial Literary course aim to expose pupils to early Econs and it is taught by external vendors.

Basically, those who take bicultural studies, they belong to the humanities cat......
thus, not a surprise that they opt for double humanities......
In this aspect, DHS, itself, offers the choices to pupils' interest, ( be it u are a science pupil or humanities pupil),
so long one meets the GPA criteria for 8 units......

Hi, I am a new comer. My ds has just received his only dsa posting notice with DHS in waiting list. He does reasonably well in all math, eng , science but poor in Chinese 65-70 no HCL. He is aiming VS but also worried if chinese marks pull his psle score down. If he get into DHS, will he survive there due to his currently poor chinese in Primary? I am afraid it may ruin the whole thing ...

Anybody who has kids get into DHS with not so well CL?? Pls help... need to decide tomorrow ... :slapshead:

                    Hi Augmum,

Do u know what is the avg GPA for sec 3 this yr? In ur previous post u said half the cohort failed geog, this is going to pull down their GPA as geog is compulsory for GPA.

DS didnt do well this yr.
