After hitting my thirties, even looking at food makes me gain weight.

Another quotable quote from a friend.

\"Once you hit middle age, you can get fat by just drinking water.\"

      So true!

I expanded side way (in lightning speed!) over a few months period last year, no matter what I dont eat or dont drink. A rude wake up call for me to leave my couch LOL

I thought it was... \"just by breathing air\"? :faint:

Is it more effective to join a gym or go free flow… Sigh, I’ve got problem sticking to a exercise routine.

She is slim like a bean… with the curves of a mamalicious bear. Goddess! When her trainer is through with me, I hope I look like a goddess too.

If you have problem sticking to a routine then sometimes the discipline of joining a gym can help either due to the fact that you are paying money & feel guilty if you don't go or because you can schedule yourself to attend certain classes which gives you more of a routine.

Another alternative might be finding a friend (or your husband) to work out with you - then you can encourage one another.

Since my kids started their morning session this year, I have been waking up at 5.30am and after sending them off, I will do about 1hour of brisk walking or jogging. Now that the holidays are here, I think my exercise schedule is at risk!

You'll have a different kind of exercise running after your kids?

I was working out with a Personal Trainer twice a week & pilates once a week and I must say that once you hit 3 times a week (one hour each time) and watch your diet (but can still eat occasional mee pok & ice cream), you'll definitely start getting trim again in 2-3 months. By 5months, I had lost 8 kgs but also gained 4 kgs of beautiful looking biceps, triceps, slimmer thighs & even got 4 nice looking abs!!!

Envious!!! Share share your personal trainer's contact 😄

I've been going to the gym for 7+ months 3 to 5 times a week doing circuit training. My gym in-house trainer changed my workout every month but I hardly lost any weight, only achieved slight toning. Going on low carb diet helped me to lose 3kg, however still very far from my (ambitious) target BMI 😢

Hi sleepy, I was away for 2 wks in Sydney so haven't bn checking into KSP. Didn't realize this thread was revived for a while. I'll pm you my trainer's contact.

I've been researching on this area of weight loss for years since I struggled so much with my weight. I even had prescription appetite suppressants previously but that is definitely one of the worst things one can take. I'm really surprised doctors even prescribe it to their patients. My doc herself was taking it. They wreck your metabolic rate big time.

This whole weight loss thing is truly a mind-body-spirit thing. Based on what I've researched so far, for sustainable weight loss, it's important that you don't try to lose more than 100 calories a day. If you lose too fast, your body reacts and you could actually prevent yourself from losing weight later on. Even circuit training is a art & science too. The intensity of the workout is important. You can do circuit training but you may not be really be raising your heart rate or building your muscles adequately to move up your metabolic rate.

Of course, the other half of the battle is diet and your digestive health. It's more about eating good carbs rather than low carbs. If you work out 3-5 times a week, you must consume carbs or you'll be sabotaging your weight loss. Your body is very smart, if your body thinks you're starving it, it will cling onto your fats to prevent you from losing too much weight as it thinks the body is under attack!! I don't count calories but I watch my portions. That's how my trainer tells me. It's about portion, not calorie counting.

The first 2 months, I barely saw any movement on the scale because I was actually losing fats and gaining muscle. What's important is whether the dress size is going down, overall do you look firmer and trimmer.
