My boy bearly pass CL and HCL compre too. We focusing on other sections to try to pull up the score. Hoping for a pass at HCL.

        Smartmummy,
I cannot figure out how synthesis works. Sometimes I feel this sentence ok, but somehow it was wrong somewhere.think our sense of english is not good enough. Compre cloze is another killer. Tomorrow is english test. I only got him to read through synthesis book and school files.managed to conclude science revision yesterday. Close two eyes. Water is a heavy topic and his weakness on last year Matter topic still remain.

I think my holiday starts now as there is little I want to do this week as it is test week. Last friday he still had cca!his classmate skipped to do revision at home. Why didn't I think of that!
same here.I just let him to do and mark with the help of answer in the book.He prefer to tell but I feel he got wrong in the exam cos of careless mistakes. But writing can't do more.Today I will ask a few randomly and ask some spelling.
Luckily, he doesn't opt HMT and CCA.

Me too…just hoping for a pass in HCL and work with it from there.

DS has already made plans with his friends. He is going over to his friend’s hse this weekend to play vanguards. After tmrw last paper he said he just want to chill out for a day without any studying. He knows he still has to continue his regular self study because he said he probably didn’t do so well in CA1.

He complained the exams had been tough. I asked him to treat this as a "wake up call" to prepare for PSLE…so much homework and so little time to disgest, with CCA, House practises, and not to mention those 2 days of compulsory extra supplementary classes. Next term i will take him out of these extra classes and do home coaching. This way he will have more time to do his self study and also have sometime for execrises. Never mind if i have to stand up to those teachers and write official letter to school. (that what they threaten the kids)…

Just curious, are these 'compulsory extra supp classes' in your ds' school for revision and enrichment, or are they an extension of regular lessons to complete the syllabus?

I'm also tempted to opt out for my dd but the HOD says it is extra time to cover the topics. Can't seem to opt out in our case.

My dd's last paper is this Thursday. But still cannot relax becos of music exams during the school hols. Dd so not looking forward to sch hols

for my boy's sch, it used to be extension of regular lessons (for EMS) and compulsory for last year P5s. they scrapped this practice this year, compulsory only for P6s. so now i worry without extension of regular lessons, can they teach more indepth or can only scratch the surface of the subjects, given that Science has so little periods per week.

In dd's school, supplementary classes are extension of lesson time, which is why it is compulsory. So, unless your child goes for tuition or you teach them yourself, they will miss out some of the stuff if they skip the lesson.

                    Same in dd's school.

I just really feel like DD is not prepared for this CA at all. I guess it did not help that she had her piano exam on 26 Feb, just 2 days before her 1st paper, and so was practising hard for it. School CCA continues twice a week, even during exam week, and on top of that, she has to stay back in school to train for upcoming competition.

I guess that’s why the frustration. So many things to do, so little time.

Jedamum - yes, I’m asking DD to try and score for the other sections in CL, to try and pull up the marks. Not enough time to do anything abt the compre section at this point in time. As for HCL, it’s so heavy in writing, to be honest, I’m totally giving up for this CA. At least try not to do too badly for the 4 core subjects.

That's the main reason why I persuaded dd to stop her music lessons. It's just get too overwhelming with all these crazy workload & long hours in school. I'm not even talking about having a childhood now, just sufficient rest time & I'm grateful enough. It's a relief for both of us after stopping her music lessons. 1 less thing to worry about at the back of our head
