• RE: $3k+ For Oversea School Trips?

I recall a case ( a few years ago) of one poly student attended an immersion programme in China and was killed. Thus if I can afford, I will also consider if it is safe and if my kid is ready. My dd is abit ‘blur blur’ type so I am not in favor for her to go oversea trip. My ds is slightly more ‘steady’’ and alert so I am more ok to let him go for such programme. And also depend which country they are going.

• RE: 2012 P1 Registration Exercise for 2013 In-Take

My friend is going to register for Radin Mas, I said for twins, even though 2 heads but consider as one applicant. But he said no. Eg. 20 seats left and if he register for his twins, will bal be 20-1=19 or 20-2=18. Who is right?

• RE: Is this behaviour of teacher acceptable?

Not acceptable! Your child is just a kid while the teacher is an adult. The teacher should not resort to violence especially when she knows your kid has attention span problem and already seeking guidance and getting treatment. Complain to principal so that she will not do to other kids.

I guess it depends on the school? I arrived at 9am and was only called at 10.45 to go in the room for registration. The form took less than 5 mins to fill but spent another 45 mins to be called to really do the registration (cos only 1 staff doing). By the time I could leave the school it was 11.30am

Too long. Or was there a long quene of people in front of you? Anyway, first time I hear of only 1 staff being engaged for P1 registration exercise. You should have feedback to the principal or VP.

TRUE. If MOE really wants to put into practice what it preaches, then the whole registration phases should be tweaked to read (roughly) as such...

Your policy doesn't work lah. Your policy mainly tackle on proximity of distance. Do you know how many rich people in Singapore? If base on distance, all the property nearby so called ' branded' school will be snatched up by 'rich' people Liao.

Why make a comparison saying people stay in condo make up of hands off parents while parents from HDB are always there for the kids?
Children are all innocent and very simple being. Even when they are thinking why some stay in condo some in HdB they see hdb and condo as different items. And not from the point why my parents can't afford, the materialistics comparison between private and HDB.....etc. instead of telling them 'ah boy, people staying in condo are richer but may not be happy as compared to HDB people, .'. We tell them exactly the differences of both structures. If our kids see a Merc passed by, do we instantly say ' nothing great, these drivers are all in debt with car loans,we are happer in mrt no debt and liability' ?!?

I'm afraid you've misread my post. I used a condo-HDB analogy due to ruaqt2's earlier post on her dd's class comparing types of housing. I was saying that for small kids, what matters more is the time their parents spend wih them, not how affluent they are.

If you can pt me to the exact sentence(s) I caused you to think that i implied all condo-owners are hands-off parents, I'll be happy to amend it.

Fqw, ok my bad 😉 I could have over read your statements. Pai seh.
My son is just next to me now so I checked this with him. For his class, their assignment is to describe a place they visited during the Jun holidays [can be either local or overseas].

Yes, it can be local or overseas. Unfortunately the assignment topic happens to provide another opportunity for students to compare.
Nevertheless be it local or overseas, it's the learning experience that matters. Gotta tell our child not to feel inferior.

I think we own it to our kids to let them understand that whatever we did/didn't do for them, we've done our best as parents, based on what we know. Just like our own parents have done their best for us, based on what they knew.

Anyway between staying in a condo with totally hands-off parents and a HDB with parents who're always there for us, I know as a kid what I'll prefer.
Why make a comparison saying people stay in condo make up of hands off parents while parents from HDB are always there for the kids?

• RE: tonsils removal

When my ds was 2+ the ENT doctor at kkh also advised ds to remove his tonsils. The way he said it (at that time) seemed to me with no empathy. I didn’t go for it and till now he is alright now. I learnt that when his body over heat, the tonsils will grow and may cause him to have fever. So what I do is when weather is hot I brew Liang teh, barley water and chrysanthemum tea to cool his body down. It helps. I know the tonsils will never kick away but I rather do it when he is older. My cousin did tonsils removal before, he said very painful but it was like 20 years ago. Now with advance tech, maybe not so painful. But can you wait until maybe 16 or older. 9 years old sill young.

for 2B:

besides PV, also got Grassroot Activity Community leaders.

if we know #of PRs PV in NYPS, we also need to know # of PRs GRL.
# of PRs PV: perhaps can obtain discreetly from Head of PV (Nanyang).
but # of PRs GRL, quite difficult.
yes, agree. Need to know how many GRLs are PR as well but I doubt there will be many PRs in GRLs. Tough if >2km for NYPS
