Over these few months, i have learn a lot about parenting! And i guess i was a bit too anxious at the beginning and my thoughts was over crowded with the uncertainty of what's happening next.
Things are slowly falling into places. Working time, personal time, parenting time, family time, etc... It was really a struggle initially...
Of course the most rewarding is to see how my son growing up. Truly amazed by the rate he can pick up things. Seeing him progressing from just lying down as a baby to crawling and now to attempting to stand and work... Witnessing all these are just so fulfilling!
And now sending him to his first school at My Little Genius is another milestone! Still curious how he'll turn out after the program? But based on the knowledge i have gained over these period of time, I'm sure he'll be able to pick up the languages and abilities relatively fast as well from the program...
Hi Parents whose children have started on early brain stimulation, would you mind sharing the benefits that your child/ children get when you start them early? I would really love to know how early stimulation is able to help your kids later on in life when they go to school or in other areas of their lives...
Thanks!

RE: All About Right Brain Training
Hi Ed1975,
Thanks for your sharing!
My boy just started his My Little Genius class!
My wife feedback that he’s rather attentive in class! Never expected him to be able to complete his class! I really has under estimated my boy’s potential! I’m learning and discovering new things through my son everyday! He never fails to give me pleasant surprises!
My wife was delighted that he was observing attentively most of the time in class. Anyway, can’t tell much at this time…
ok, got to go play with my boy…
cheers! -

my girl has been with SM for 2 years plus and i can see result in her memory esp in instant memory and also recital .. i can also see our classmates who (1 year) before are not doing anything special in class till now, they can recite the LM and also able to do instant memory all correct each time..
one thing i noticed/observe, parents' role.. perservere and patience with our kids, dun expect our child to be able to do superly well once enrol in SM.. it takes time.. and usually, the result wont be obvious before they turn 3 plus.. i was asking my DH the same question, should we stop ? but lucky thing my DH perservere.. and im happy we did continue and now, i really see the \"hard work\" we have put thru..
money wise, it's well spent.. as it's onlt at this stage that we can do this little bit for them, after that, we cannot reverse to this age to train them in this area. my opinion.
anyway, just choose the right brain class that u r comfortable.
to me, SM is my right choice.
gather feedback from frens and all on the class before enrol, believe in the method and not by sales tactic. then u r on the right track
Hi Micollh,
Thanks for sharing!
Great to hear your child has benefited from SM!
And i'll take your advise to put in the \"hard work\" for my child even though i didn't sign him up for SM.... I signed him for My Little Genius...
Over these period of time i've picked up quite a lot of knowledge and tips from other parents! Thank you for all the great sharing parents! :thankyou:
Also got to realize that a happy and empowering environment is very important for my boy to grow! :rahrah:
Will share more with you how's my boy doing as he progress with MLG. And do continue to share about your child success! I'm so inspired to \"work hard\" for the next few years before the window of opportunity closes...
Cheers! -

Hi Ed1975,Hi Curiousdaddy,
It might be good for you to book a preview session with them as they conduct previeww session regularly in the centre. They should be a ble to answer your qn. I am not a professional in this aspect. Think you can check out their website http://www.mylittlegenius.com.sg to book a session.
I like bilingual as my experience with my elder child is that he was not exposed to chinese and is now quite adverse to spaeking chinese. All his enrichment was in english. I don't want the same to happen to my younger one. So if there is an brain stimulation centre that can also expose my younger one to chinese language, why not? My younger one just need more exposure as I believe their lang ability depends on what they had been exposed to since young. Don't want to make the same mistake as elder one.
My younger one has learned some simple chinese words since attending the mylittlegenius class. When he see the chinese teacher, he automatically call her lao shi and the english teacher, teacher. So I think he knows that she is a chinese teacher and should speak to her in mandarian. At least this is what I see for a start which I think is great!
Hope I answered your qns.
Thank you for linking me to the website and asking me to go for the preview at My Little Genius. Didn't expect to get so much knowledge out of the 1 hour spend there!
It was a very insightful talk.
Have a good overview of why we should start our children early. Initially I thought it was just a kiasu mentality... However after the preview talk, i find the person making a lot of sense... And never occurred to me that being kiasu for my child at his early age also coincide with his right brain development. So glad i'm kiasu at the right timing! :boogie:
I also got a few tips on how to get young children to read!
Just curious, the person mentioned children can easily be trained on their Photographic Memory. How is your child doing in this area?
Btw, I've registered my child to start on the program next term!
Looking forward to attend the class with my son! :dancing:
Cheers!

Hi Ed1975,Hi,
My child has been attending My Little Genius for the past 5 wks. So far, I like what I see and my child who is 2 yrs plus seems to be enjoying the activities. It is still too early to tell whether my child is benefiting as it has only been 5 weeks. Most important to me is he enjoys it.
My older child who is now 5 yrs old had attended SM for 1.5 yrs before I stopped him last yr. I am very unhappy abt the way I was treated when I was there. Think they are getting a little too arrogant although my child did benefitted from the program.
From what I can see, both SM and my little genius are doing similiar things, brain stimulaation. The thing that I like abt my little genius is that it is a bilingual programme and the materials are nicer and they do have some added activities. I also like the fact that they are not doing ESP. I am not comfortable with ESP. The teachers in my little genius is also nice and the staff are friendly.
You can call them to book a preview session to know more.
Cheers.
Thx u 4 sharing.
I'm glad to hear that yr child is enjoying My Little Genius program.
Hope you don't mind sharing with me some questions that i'm curious about....
How does the bilingual program help the children?
Will they get confuse to be learning so many languages at such a young age?
What do you think is a good age to start?
Cheers! :celebrate:

RE: All About Right Brain Training
Hi,
I’m looking to send my boy to a good enrichment program. Have got some background of SM through the sharing of parents here…
I was surfing and ended up at My Little Genius website.
Have anyone been to the program?
I have passed it a few times along Upper Serangoon Rd but have never gone in to check it out…
Anyone able to share your experience with the program?
Thanks! -
RE: If you love me.. / You do not love me..
stsy_26:
Well say! I notice so people associate \"love\" to get children to do or not to do things... Its very bad for the children...Children usually imitate what they see or hear from adults ard them. I know first hand cos my older gal sounds EXACTLY like me when talking / \"scolding\" her younger sis, so WE hv to be really careful in our choice of words and what we say to our kids.
Do you or ur hubs or any other adult your child is with during the day use the word \"love\" in relation to his behaviour? For eg, i've heard of grandparents say to their grandkids that if they misbehave, their mummy won't love them anymore. In such situations, the kid then associates naughty behaviour with the word 'love' without really understanding what it means. So when they get scolded or punished or rejected, they just verbalise it with the phrase they associate punishment with - 'You dun love me\".
The above is just me personal opinion. I advocate using only positive words when speaking to kids. And oso being very careful with choice of words cos kids absorb wat we say like a sponge, and will use it against u one day!! Whether they fully understand what they are saying! Sometimes it's really funny when u hear them speak like u, and at other times, it's quite a slap in the face when u realise how u really sound when talking \"down\" to them!
Saying that, it becomes a REAL challange when u're so mad at them n yelling them at full force, and going thru ur whole mental dictionary of \"positive-only\" scolding words to use! Hahahahah!!!
Emotional blackmail and kids grow up associating acknowledgement with being or not being love... -
RE: Baby's milk diet / volume intake.
My boy is still on breast milk... Don't really know how much he's drinking...
My wife just let him drink until he's full or fall asleep...
He's getting chubbier each day...
