Ok now since there are suggestions to the parents to voice out the unfairness encountered during balloting, those parents attending the ballot this afternoon can give it a try and feedback to us if the school will comply accordingly.XXXX:
That y i said previously it is not fair system. Fate determined by a ball
No one is arguing that the ballot is not statistically fair, it's just there are occasions when you might be able to improve your chances if you notice the balls are not being shuffled between picks and your ball, in this specific draw, is in a stagnant area (where it has no chance of being picked).
All the best :)
Where did I say it was unfair? Read my posts again. I distinguish between the process being statistically fair on the one hand and being able to improve your chances in a specific draw on the other. I never asked for parents to do the selecting. Please, if you are going to quote and paraphrase my posts at least read and understand them first. -
Hi ,
In all fairness, the balls nos are also randomly placed that is not in alpabetical order. At the start, the spinner also lay out the instruction from MOE on the spining method. She is to spin gently clockwise 3 rounds and then anticlockwise to catch the ball. Hence, it really boils down to luck as to what is the number ( or banding ) that your child’s ball is. So, MOE may want to tweak the instructions to the school to give the cage a few hard spins as those who have seen the balloting will testify that the balls in the middle does have a higher probability of getting chosen.
DS ball was the last to be picked. He was no, 21 out of 28 nos just slightly out of the middle band. -
Basically speak or remain silent forever.

Exactly! You wouldn't want to say to your partner, \"Too bad we missed out, I could actually see that our ball was never going to be selected in this draw, but hey-ho the system is statistically fair over all so what more could we have done?\" Partner: \" :censored: :censored: :censored:  \" -
Xxxx,
For goodness sake ! I am referring to few parents here not only YOU please !!! -

I thought the ball nos. go via birth cert no.? Or is each school allowed to determine how to assign ball nos.?Hi ,

I'm sorry you had to move on to Phase 2C(S). But miracles happen more often than you think. A number of my friends were called by their waitlisted schools late in December with the offer to transfer. It might just happen for you. In the meantime, just try to get a school in Phase 2C(S).... Thanks all. Now have to think alternative.
Have filled up wait list but chances are minimal. Who will want transfer their child out. -

It goes by birth cert. Effectively random.

No lah. Effectively dependent on when the child is born. Unless born overseas, then have large no.
