I remembered one of the first assignment in IP year one history was to descibe a political comic about Stalin.

Geography was about some macro economic short essay questions.

        Hi all,

May I know if my DS’ choice of school is not a SAP school, does it mean the HCL points will not be taken into account when determining if his score is able to meet tye cut of point of the school? Thank you.

Yep... the bonus HCL points are only used for SAP schools.
If not going to SAP schools, then the PSLE T-score is without the 1,2,3 points.

If it is not a SAP school, bonus points from HCL is meaningless and will not be taken into account.

For those whose kids perform regularly well & might choose a 3rd language, may I suggest occupying this long s h holiday with starting language learning of choice to help them get accustomed & ease into new term. Caution is yr child shld be keen. Most drop out of 3rd language in the 1st year if there’s no sustaining interests or lack support.

Learning a 3rd language opens doors to cultural exchanges for personal & professional relationships & it helps the learner become successful learners. The brain develops further as the brain networks become better integrated & our kids acquire faster & more efficient learning learning skills. It develops the part of the brain for connectivity.

                http://www.sciencealert.com/here-s-how-learning-a-new-changes-your-brain-at-any-age

The parts that develop in size were the hippocampus, a deep-lying brain structure that is involved in learning new material and spatial navigation, and three areas in the cerebral cortex.

Different parts of the brain develop to different degrees depending on well the learner performs and how much effort they put in.

I posted in RV link below but no response so just want to ask if any one here knows.

Son getting psle result this coming thurs. I read in previous RV posting, the Chinese standard in RV is high. Does student still require to read 四大名著 each year starting sec 1, periodically ( how often ) write chinese books review , read Chinese article weekly? Please share more about the Chinese study needed. Thanks

I have heard from some primary school teachers who have seen the PSLE exam papers for 2018 that the level of difficulty for this year was lower than previous years. What could be the possible implication on the results and the cut off points for the secondary school posting?

                        It depends on cohort size.

If psle was easy, then expect higher cut off. I think.
