The lazy daddy who comes home at 11pm and blamed everyone expect himself?
Too bad - that’s one useful adult lesser in that family.

mark the assessment books like some daddy here does, go through concepts, revise together or even reading newspaper by sitting next to his kids to give the moral support)

The list can go on - we daddies have a huge role to play, if we have the cheek to demand for good results.

Phew, what a long eventful day.


Lots of tension & nail biting during the mandatory school hall talk, followed by even more gan-cheongness in the classroom. No top scorers were announced in the hall, btw.

Seems like overall results shifted right to bunch up in the middle numbers while the top scores were lowered from last year’s. Lots of happy faces and emotions in school.

Went out shopping and had a nice family dinner to mark the official end of 6 primary school years. Now, on to the next adventure in 2019 & best of luck to the next batch of students going through their own dsa and psle journey!

Can anyone share if this formula has been a reliable one for you?

I tried using this interesting formula on my own Prelims raw score per my report book and indeed derived a comparable actual T-score (+/- 1 or 2 pts difference) that I attained many decades ago.

what is the pathway to go to JC
can he appear for o level?

Your DS can offer EXP/NA subjects though he is given NT stream, as long as he got A or B for any of the PSLE subjects. For example, if he got “A” for EL, he will be offered to take EXP EL or NA EL; if he got “B” for Maths, he can offer NA Maths. For JC paths, to be honest, more students are opting for poly nowadays, and many poly courses have very low COP, eg 7 pts for L1R4. http://www.polytechnic.edu.sg/introduction/available-courses

There are more options for poly grads, and they are picking up skills make them secure a job before graduate. With SIT, more poly grads are able to secure a degree qualification.

it’s the end of an exciting day…a day you can say marked (well, almost) the end of 6 years of primary school education.

however for those who are not using DSA, the last stage would be waiting for the sec 1 posting result at 6am (plus/minus) via SMS. after reporting to the secondary school, that would be the last time the kids will be wearing the primary school uniform unless it’s affiliated secondary.

the kids have done their best and scolding them would be crying over spilled milk.
when the kids start formal schooling, it’s almost like a village going to school. gone are the days when the child goes to school and gets promoted to p2, p3 and so on. parents’ involvement is greatly required…from helping the child with the 抄写 (I admit doing this as it’s non core)，learning 听写，默写, math, English and art. if not, the poor child cannot go to bed.
move on, psle is history once the kids start secondary school.

yup...daddies today CANNOT sit down in front of the tv or read newspapers while expecting the kids to produce good results.
I mark the work set for kids to do and then mark...hubby will go through mistakes and explain.
this has been the 'culture' at home since son started p1 in 2007.
daddy is the good guy if he finds that mummy has given many questions and negotiates for a discount.

Just reach home from work, missed out all the drama! But yes, dd2 can go dream school with subsidies. The latter is pretty much needed but unexpected cos I thought the cut off is higher. Sibei Heng.

Can anyone please explain how the school allocation based on choices work? For the following case:

school A is choice one and school B is choice 2
Last year cut-off for school A is 2 point greater than child’s T-score
Last year cut-off for school B is same as child T-score.
Is it safe to make school preference choices as above? If school A not allocated, will school B be automatically allocated (provided the cut-off is same as last year for both schools)?

Wld like to get some opinions.
With score of 247 we are rhinking of the following sch choices
1. Victoria IP
2. Temasek JC
3. Victoria Express
4. Tanjong Katong Sec
5. Temasek Sec
6. Stil considering

Shd we even bother trying for the IP in choice 1n 2?
