Hi. Anyone’s kid in ACSI GEP class?

I wish to know if all primary school GEP students will do GEP at ACSI.
Also, in 2019, how many GEP classes are there?
How are the year ones picked to be in the GEP class?
      Thank you.

        1. There’s no GEP Programme at Yr1 per se. All will be doing the IP & same projects thro’out IP cohort

        2. How many 2019 GEP class? Nobody can tell u till 2 Jan

        3. Most questions alr replies to u. You just phrase slightly diff & insist not accept that nobody can second guess the number of classes.

You might hv a lot more adjustments then most parents. Just be happy yr child (I assume fr GEP Pri sch) got into ACSI to do IP/IB. By Yr 3, nobody rmbrd or cares if u’re a GEP student (if not right after year-end exams. Maybe MOE still tracks but GEP has lost its lustre.

Apologies for barging in... Sharing info only... I had met my child's teacher (for the 1st time in 3years, cos this time round the Ptm timing could fit) & he said the ministry (?) is still tracking him (both of us didn't know why) as his Head wanted to know the child's progress... Probably for statistics?

I suspect there’s probably one MOE officer still wanna prove the Programme he designed is valid for sussing out the creme-de-creme but maybe Spore parents spoil his GEP design by hot-housing/training/coaching to make their kids a talent. I don’t see GEP participation recognized in university or employment interviews. No idea. But GEP certainly lost its lustre.

There are those non-GEP kids but very much smarter with a lot more creative juices, who think out-of-box & excel in any projects given.

Methinks every child develop at different pace. It’ll be a waste to claim GEP identifies yr future leader/talents coz I’ve seen some kids accelerate after they grow into their teens & then adolescence. These kids 开窍后 is a lot more maxing as you see them handle studies & life skills.

              Thank you. You are right.

In sec sch, whether GEP or not, all study the same thing only the pace is different.

All IP classes same pace. They don’t do extra projects just bcoz they were previously fr GEP. By the time they’re in Yr 5/6, each will be recognize by their own merits. No more GEP distinguishing.

The only stark point about being in GEP class is they expect you to do well, better than the other IP classes. As far as i know, they try to group the pri-GEP and high psle score boys together into GEP class(es).

Yr 3 onwards, there is still \"unofficial\" GEP classes. But these are for those who have done very well for Sec 1 & 2, not whether you have pri-sch-gep-status or not.
Yr 5 onwards, is whether you are attached or not attached. :rotflmao:

                    Last minute panic…

Do the incoming Sec 1 kids need to put on their ties on the first day of school? :x

What about the badge (I assume still need)… since there is a badge ceremony on the first 3rd day?

How are the students given improvement feedbacks for the various project works?

Pls do not panic. Just buy 2-3 badges & a tie fr the Co-op. Boys misplaced badges easily.

If the new Sec 1 boys hv not gotten the habit of tie & badge, it’s still okai. Pls support yr child when badge pinning ceremony scheduled as it’ll give yr child a good head-start & pride to join the ACS family & gel with his peers. We saw how some burly boys in rough contact CCA, tears when their parents were too busy to be present. Poor chaps.
