Its not too late to give it a shot. I only started my activities end of Sept last year :!:

Thanks dear. Is it a weekly activity? Coz I've to looking after my DS so if I do get selected for the PV, I might have to find someone to look after my DS for awhile.. *shakes head* headache..

It's not necessarily on weekly basis.
As and when there is school need for PV, then will receive phone call / emails.
But try to go for the camps(over-night) during school holidays, one-shot to clock tens of hours.
But mostly guy parent volunteers for camps.
MOE guideline to clock 40hours PV work by 30June,2010.

Jav, no HPPS rejected me too 2 yrs ago. Tankee, they didnt ballot, not that I know of anyway.

Autumn82, chief has complied all the schools past balloting history. FYI, Marymount typically has available places even in phase 2C. Hence it is not really necessary to do PV in order to get a place in the school. Pls read the FAQ thread to get the link.

It really depends from school to school. Mine was one-two times a week (2-3 hours each time) for a few months. Pretty intense but got most of my hours in over a relatively short period . Others may be slow burn of 30 minutes x 80 sessions, for instance.

Your reply letter must write nice-nice hor, like writing a CV for job interview okie?

My daughter will be going to Pri 1 in 2012. I’m thinking of signing up as a parent volunteer (PV) in some schools next year. Does anyone know if schools can accept PV 2 years before the child is due for enrolment? The reason why I’m thinking of starting 2 years in advance is because so that I have more time to chalk up the 40 hrs of service time. Thanks

Try NYPS...register 2 years in advance, but need 80 hrs.
Not easy to get shortlisted even for interview with the Principal.
                Need specialised skills...

typically school do not accept 2 years in advance. However, NYPS do start and stop accepting PV applications earlier than most school, if not all.

Thanks. What is the procedure and the timeline to register as a PV?

Wow like that even buying a house near NYPS (1Km) also no confirm would be able to get into. Must be rich & have specialised skills then can able Phase 2B in NYPS.

Historically, Marymount Convent didn't get filled up till phase 2C Supp, so you should have a good chance to get your DD admitted even in 2C.

But considering you also have a DS, wouldn't it be easier if you get your DD into a coed school so that your son can be admitted in phase 1? Else, you will have to worry about his P1 registration further down the road. :?
