it was reported that besides promise of $$, he also lured them with branded bags
This is indeed a good question.Mawar:
How did she prepare herself mentally? Did she feel abused? Did she block it out? Did she hate herself? Did she hate her customers? Did she like the stuff she bought in exchange for degrading herself? Cannot imagine carrying a branded bag earned through such means with pride.
Could it be a power thing? Did she feel strong to have all the men lusting after her and in her control?
How could she possibly do one man after another ? I know its :censored: but i just cannot imagine after a job is done and the next one arrives. What is possibly going on in her brain ? Even if it's branded stuff she is crazy over, is she sleeping with 3-4 in a day and then go to Cartier or Chanel after she has earned enough for the day ???
That pimp !!! Trying out wares first for $50 and then teaching girls how to market :faint: -
It is very easy for an adult to verify whether the girl is under age or not, just ask to see the I.C. This why the ex-principal plead guilty, he knew he could not get away with it.
As for the girl, her future is not ruined since no one knows who she is. She could very well be still studying in poly or university. She can continue her life as if nothing has happened. If she does not think that what she has done is morally wrong, then there is no reason why she should feel any remorse. -
Freesia:
So there is an implication that after the pimp has tried her and coached her to be well versed in many services, he is not willing to let her go ? Maybe...since he is not working and yet driving a Benz. This damn assho*% should be caned...so that any one who intends to be his successor will think twice.Maybe she is controlled. She may want to backed out but the pimp did not allow via threat on circulating nude photos etc.. she must have been lost at 1st but subsequently has no way of backing out. The pimp would not let her out too since she can help him make so much money.
The education system is to be blamed too. It is too elitist and it shamed the students who does not do well. The schools also grouped the good ones together instead of mixing them together to ensure cohesion. Our education is like the vice trade. Once you are down and out; it takes a huge effort to climb up. p3, streamed, p6 streamed, Sec2 streamed etc. At the tender age of 9 and 12, if you do badly you are a dead meat.
Our education system is punishing. That I totally agree. PSLE at P6...sec school depends on child. How many are self-motivated at 12 or even 11+ ? -

Bravo Chenon, u write with some understanding of why d gahmen legalized prostitution coz u hv done some research into it.Actually, I think prostitutes serve an important function in society. There are men among us who have no easy access to sex. Unless these men have taken vows of celibacy (i.e., they're monks) then frequenting a prostitute in a commercial arrangement for sex is fair to both parties.
The RVHS Teacher is unmarried. He could be your son or your brother. If your son and your brother aren't married, you will seriously expect him to be a monk? In this day and age where sex is on every poster and every filmshow and every billboard? You can't watch a movie without having to sit through kissing and all that, often quite extraneous to the plot.
The RVHS teacher entered into a commercial arrangement for sex... and very likely he had NO IDEA that she was underaged. Come on... if property developers can sell apartments to naive young couples by misrepresenting brochures and showflats, you think a pimp will be concerned about declaring that one of his most popular girls is underaged?
Then also, we think the 17 year old girl should be punished. Why? Prostitution is legal in Singapore (for good reason... because it does fulfill an important purpose... like garbage collectors or night soil collectors in the past... not a prestigious occupation BUT important). The law happens to specify an arbitrary age of 18, below which a prostitute is considered underaged. This was meant to protect girls who are coerced in to the profession. Clearly, this girl has made a career choice. She is not being coerced. She just happens to be a precocious genius at sex... no different from the Math genius who at 20 has a PhD and is tenured at a university. Why do we respect one and flame the other?
If there are sisters among us who like sex and like the job, why not? It's a dirty job but someone has to do it... I did read some research a while back where researchers interviewed career prostitutes (working independently for themselves). The really really top ones provide companionship and some semblance of affection. Some men are really so lonely that they're willing to pay for even this Pretend-Affection.
We do not know the family situations of these men. We don't know if their wives have health issues related to sex. We do not know if they experience loneliness etc... They chose to PAY for sex instead of seducing girls for that. That is good. As for the RVHS Teacher... so handsome... scholar and everything... he could easily had gotten free sex if he had put some effort into seduction. But he didn't. He paid up... in an arrangement that was upfront for both him and the girl. Perfectly alright!
Unfortunately, this girl was underaged.
I think prostitution is fine as long as it is a direct relationship, with no pimp involved.
I wld add dat, though unspoken in public nor actively promoted,
it forms part of d total allure of d SIN tourism n hospitality package.
Anyone who still thinks dat those tourists/participants who come here for MINES, F1 etc only spend their spare time partaking of SIN cuisines n sightseeing are living in a hole.
d threshold age was not arbitrary. It follows d norm in other Western countries.
This law was only legislate in 2008 to deter child prostitution,
n I believe SIN consistently being on the list of human trafficking plays a significant part in getting it legislated. -
Also, 4 hours 4 customer; you need someone to drive you around…
you think you can consecutively do for 4 hours…
As early a P2, the few top students selected to go to some leadership programme.
the school think as if the other students do not know. Some students felt so discouraging at P2. How to have self worth. The system started identifying at 8 yers old.
At Sec2 they streamed you based solely on grades regardless of your interest.
School got to meet KPI so cannot afford to take chance. -
According to today's \"Today\" newspaper,
\"The gag order, which prohibits the publication of any details that could lead to the identification of the girl, also applies to members of the public.\"
I am a little concerned becos the earlier links provided by some of our forummers may very well have revealed the girl's identity.
Let's exercise some caution when mentioning the girl.

Most of the men did it at Hotel 81. Principal did it at some hotel in bencoolen st right ? Even that Shaw grandson also went to budget hotel. It was the Swiss banker who did her at posh hotels. Also, 4 hours 4 customer; you need someone to drive you around......
you think you can consecutively do for 4 hours..
Can die...men from elite families go to budget hotel to sleep with a prost.
Maybe after the 2nd or 3rd client is done and she has appt at another place, that client will send her there. Or else take cab lor. -
Chenonceau:
I don't feel sorry for her. There is nothing to feel sorry for. To her, it's a job she chose. It is gainful employment that she picked for herself. We don't have to approve of her choice. Punish her though? Why?LOLMum:
Unless the girl was raped, like Annabel, fell into depression followed by a truckload of problems and ended up doing this stuff, then I feel sorry for her.
But if it was done for easy money with the purpose to have material stuff, then no.
But yeah... I know my perspective is a bit unusual.
I am inclined to say that d girl must also be held accountable for getting 48 men,
so far, into hot soup, for a few reasons.
1.\td pimp n her for falsely advertising on his website dat she was 18 yo.
2.\tShe probably lied about her age when asked by her clients, if they bother to ask.
Yeah, some of u wld say d onus is on the men to check n verify – if they were
capable of thinking with the head on their shoulders at d material time,
they wouldn’t end up in this mess in d first place.
3.\tMost importantly, dis being a high profile case, if she is not held accountable,
d law wld hv failed in its purpose to discourage minors who hv similar thoughts
from taking d same easy money route since there is no deterrence not to do so.
There is no mention of Hotel 81 role in dis whole saga thus far.
Recalled dat some time ago, a hotel owner of a small hotel in Upper Serangoon
was hauled up in court for facilitating prostitution.
Many of these acts occurred at Hotel 81 Bencoolen.
Weren’t d hotel frontline staff supposed to check d guests' ID on registration?
Doesn’t it baffles one’s imagination dat d hotel staff didn’t raise a red flag when it is d same girl with many men,
n in one instance, in different rooms in d same afternoon?
Did d police investigators let dis pass?
Why two distinctly different treatments to d same law?
I m not suggesting anything here, but I noted with interest a piece of news straddling d court appearances of d 48 men charged.
The very public announcement on 16th Apr dat d Hotel 81 owner donated $2 mil to NTU for needy students.
Hv any of u indirectly contributed to a good cause?

There's the right hand.. boring? then.. there is the left hand..
and there are tons of material on the internet....
2.
Ignorance is not a valid defense. Onus is on client to exercise due diligent/prudence. If they wanna take risk, be prepared for the consequence that may follow.
3.
The law is clear. Whatever reasons you have, there is no justification to broke the law.
you're hungry doesn't give you the license to rob/steal. but maybe you can use it as a mitigating factor..
and there is always the right/left hand.. if there is biological needs..
4.
Who knows if the fact that she is under age is a key consideration of the transaction? mebbe the man choose her precisely because she is young?
