Hi all, this is from the KiasuParents Team: we’re not banning or deleting advertiser posts, unless it’s really obvious that someone is posing as a parent but spinning a story to drop a link to their business. In fact, as parents, we would rather have business owners chat with us authentically, letting us know what the value proposition is, and answering our questions.

@thebottomsupblog When SF first started, there seemed to be more “hobby” courses. But somewhere along the way it became more narrow and focused on “work” skills. That may have been an intentional decision? I guess it’s how the govt feels that taxpayer funds should be spent. Perhaps there could be another category of SF courses which are not so work-related, which are subsidised but to a lesser extent? I’d love to be able to do some craft-type courses, or even repair/mending courses, not necessarily to start a business, but just for myself and others? I recently tried to sign up for a clothes-mending/upcycling course, but found that although it’s listed under SF, it can only be taken as part of a much longer and expensive course intended for those who want to start a business!

▎ Hi all, ▎ I’m a dad with a P6 daughter this year. Like many of you, I’ve been stressing about PSLE prep — especially Maths and Science. She goes for tuition but I wanted something she could use at home for daily practice that actually helps her understand her mistakes, not just drill more questions. ▎ I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, so I built one myself. I’m a software engineer and I spent the last few months putting together an app called PSLE Tutor (https://psle.itutorsg.com). My daughter has been using it as my “beta tester” and it’s been helpful enough that I thought I’d share it here. ▎ What it does: ▎ The main thing that makes it different is the AI coaching. When my daughter gets a Maths question wrong, instead of just showing the answer, the app analyses where she likely went wrong and gives her step-by-step hints to work through it herself. It also tracks which topics she’s weak in and automatically gives her more practice in those areas. ▎ Right now it’s strongest in Maths and Science, which are the two subjects my daughter needed the most help with. There’s English practice too (grammar, vocabulary, cloze) but that’s still a work in progress. ▎ What it’s NOT: ▎ - It’s not KooBits. KooBits has 100,000+ questions and has been around for years. My question bank is around 4,300+ questions. It’s smaller, but the AI generates additional practice questions based on your child’s weak areas, so it doesn’t run out easily. ▎ - It’s not a replacement for tuition or school work. It’s meant as a daily supplement — 15-20 minutes a day kind of thing. ▎ - It’s not made by a big company. It’s just me, a dad who codes. So the app doesn’t have fancy gamification or class leaderboards like the bigger platforms. ▎ What it costs: ▎ - There’s a free tier so you can try without paying anything ▎ - Basic plan is S$9.90/month (2 subjects, AI coaching, past year papers) ▎ - Premium is S$14.90/month (adds priority AI grading and detailed analytics) ▎ - Cancel anytime, no lock-in ▎ I’m sharing this here because I genuinely want feedback from other PSLE parents. If your child tries it and something doesn’t work well, or you think a feature is missing, I’d really like to hear it. I’m actively developing the app and parent feedback is the most useful input I can get. ▎ If you have any questions about how it works, happy to answer here. ▎ Link: https://psle.itutorsg.com ▎ Thanks for reading!

@Vivi1122 My older daughter was like this (she’s now 29!). We also took her for checkups etc., and the final conclusion was that the blood vessel walls in her nose were thin, and that it would improve with age. It did improve, and by mid-Pr or so (can’t remember exactly now), she stopped having frequent nosebleeds. I can’t remember her having a nosebleed for years now. In the meanwhile, these are the things we tried to limit bleeds: control sneezing by giving her daily antihistamines during tree pollen season (we were living overseas then); you should consult your GP before using antihistamines if you haven’t done so before. We couldn’t control the pollen as those trees were everywhere, but see if you can figure out whether your daughter’s sneezing is due to allergens, temperature changes or whatever, and try to reduce those? teach her not to dig her nose or be rough in cleaning her nose. in dry seasons (again, we were overseas), drink more water to stay hydrated. some people suggest a bit of vaseline in the nose to hydrate the mucous membrane - she didn’t like that we I don’t think we did it much. Hope this helps.

@rinsider To answer your question: My two kids were unplanned, although they came after marriage haha. I was not the type of person who needed to have kids, although I’m very glad that I did, and I do live for them, in many ways. For one, they’ve made me improve myself so that they would have a better role model. My life with kids is infinitely better, but I wouldn’t really want to prescribe this to someone else, as we’re all different. If we’d had more access to resources when we were 20-somethings, be it the social media financial experts or AI, I think we might’ve done a lot of things differently too!

After having quite a few bad experiences with different maid agencies previously, I finally found one that is really reliable and responsible, so I thought I should share here for parents who may be searching too. Previously, I encountered issues with other maid agencies like poor matching, lack of follow-up, and the agencies disappearing after placement. It was honestly very stressful especially with kids at home. Recently, I engaged Goodlink Manpower Resources located at Bukit Timah, and the experience has been very smooth and reassuring. They were patient, transparent, and responsive throughout the whole process. They really took the effort to understand our family needs and recommended a helper that suited our household well. (of course i understand its also based on luck, but honestly i felt like i didn’t have the luck after so much bad encounters) What I really appreciated most was their after-service and follow-up, which made me feel much more at ease compared to my previous experiences. For parents who are currently searching for a reliable agency, you can look for Goodlink Manpower Resources or contact them at 80784463. Sharing purely based on my personal experience and hope it helps others too

If you are looking for the latest set meal prices or new launches at places like KFC or McDonald’s, you should take a look at mysgmenu.com. I find their menu guides very comprehensive, especially for quick service restaurants. It’s a great way to see the full list of options and current promotions before you even reach the ordering kiosk. Super helpful for a quick check on the go!

We capped ours at two subjects and put the rest into short 15-min daily home routines instead. The daily consistent bits moved the needle more than another paid class - especially for Chinese, where it is really about frequency. Curious how others decide what to outsource vs do at home.

Hi all, Recently I build a O level oral exam simulator for my youngest brother. He and his friends are loving and and wanted to share with parents with kids doing O level this year. It works like your GCE O level english oral and the rubrics and feedback is benchmarked against MOE standards. Do give it a try as it is free: https://easyoral.com Sharing some screenshots from my brother’s practice [image: 1780161819097-whatsapp-image-2026-05-28-at-6.51.41-pm.jpeg] ![WhatsApp Image 2026-05-28 at 6.51.40 PM.jpeg]

The P1 registration process can be overwhelming, so I built a google maps style free tool that puts everything in one place. You can enter your address to see nearby schools, understand your chances based on past ballot results, and find details like after-school care, open houses, and registration phases. There’s also an AI assistant powered by Claude that can answer P1 registration questions based on actual MOE ballot data. https://p1-registration.davidcjw.com/ [image: 1781180311957-659757fa-c4f1-45aa-b80e-28161e28de5a-image-resized.jpeg] Feel free to leave any feedback and share since the P1 registration phase is coming up. There will also be live updates regarding the ballot results.

Hi everyone, I have been exploring some brain training games for kids and came across Mahjong Solitaire. It is the single player version where you match tiles until the board clears. I am wondering if this is actually useful for children’s cognitive development or just another way to pass time. Some positive points I noticed: It trains pattern recognition and visual memory. Kids need to remember where tiles are and plan moves ahead. It encourages patience and strategy. You cannot just pick random pairs, some moves open up the game while others block progress. It is easy to learn. No complicated rules, so children can start quickly. Many versions are free online and can be played in short sessions. On the other hand, there are also limitations: It can be addictive if not monitored, so screen time limits are still needed. For some children it may be too simple or too difficult, which reduces the benefit. It mainly exercises one type of skill, so variety with other games is still important. My view is that Mahjong Solitaire can be one good option among many, but not the only tool. It works best when combined with puzzles, memory card games, logic riddles or even Sudoku for kids. Keeping playtime short and discussing strategies with the child may make it more valuable. Has anyone here tried Mahjong Solitaire with their children? Did you see any benefits in focus or memory? And what other games would you recommend for brain training?
